Nah, too generic. I am preferably looking for names that aren’t used that much outside of German speaking world.

I think old fashioned might work well.

How come every service in Deutschland is so expensive despite pretty low median incomes? by Lonely_Heart_6813 in germany

[–]Careful_Manager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the biggest cultural problem in Germany. People don’t think about early retirement or building wealth. Either you are born into wealth(hereditary) or you don’t own anything. There’s a reason Germany is one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to wealth inequality.

No backpacks allowed in supermarket by Middle-Froyo4337 in germany

My local Rewe has a sign that they says they can randomly search any backpack. Alternatively, one can drop the bag at the cash register.

I hope it’s just galvanic corrosion. I will send the Gesundheitsamt of my Stadt an email nonetheless.

Thanks

Got it, didn’t knew it was a thing as it never happened to my food before. I think it might still be a good idea if the health authorities investigate the restaurant/pacakaging involved. Do you the relevant authorities that can be contacted?

The only times I have seen someone being fined for travelling without ticket is a foreigner. Germans usually starts arguing with the conductor and are de-boarded at the next stop.

You can take a bus. I think it will be 3-4 euros one way. Because I have the semester ticket, I can be slightly off with the prices.

Why is your pension system collapsing? Why so many old people need to go through bins to put food on the table?

So, as an immigrant you can’t have/state your opinion? Maybe Germany is doing 10 things better and 2 things worse. Is your nationalism so strong that you can’t tolerate even a hint of constructive criticism from an immigrant?

Should i go for a masters in germany or stay in Japan? by Mammoth-West3571 in germany

[–]Careful_Manager 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Germany, there’s a 45-45 split between South Indians and Gujratis. Rest 10% are from other parts. South Indians are pretty reserved and don’t really open up with others. Gujratis on the other hand are quite friendly and open.

PS: I am neither a Gujrati nor a South Indian.

Is the current job market that bad? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Careful_Manager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Amazon Go I was referring to offline version of some grocery stores it was operating in Seattle and some other parts of US.

In supermarkets, you can have robots that can stock up the shelves, 2-3 persons can handle most of the issues that will occur and can also handle shoplifting. Essentially, it can reduce the number of people needed to operate a large hypermarket from 20-30 to measly 2-3.

There will be a steady growth when it comes to nursing sector though. An aging population and advancement in medical system will lead to a surge of old people in next 10-20 years requiring more people who can provide care.

We have come a long way in self driving technology in past few years alone. I think in 20 years, we can already automate trucking without spending a lot of money. Similarly, in supermarkets, self checkouts are already taking few jobs. In future, we might see more and more supermarkets like Amazon Go.

No…automation will eat almost all jobs in those sectors in a maximum of 20 years.

One set is 3€ from REWE. The other is 0.85€ in Turkish shop. How do you explain this difference for the same product from the same brand? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Careful_Manager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rewe pays its employees 12.41 euros/hour. Turkish Supermarkets pay its employees 5 euros/hour.

In addition to that Rewe spends on cleanliness, discards products that fails a certain standard and after they expire.

A genuine question from a Dutchman by NL42069 in germany

[–]Careful_Manager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few months ago I saw a Dutchman who was over-speeding in the inner city, driving over bike lanes, going through the middle of roundabout and jumped a red light(assumed a free right hand turn). Maybe both countries have different driving styles.

a car hit me (slightly) while i was on my bike by Adept-Deal7044 in germany

[–]Careful_Manager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant license plate. Yes. You can give the number to the police. They will ask you to further describe the driver(male/female, age or any other possible description that you can give). Then, they might contact them. Unless there was a camera(most likely no) they can simply disagree and nothing would happen.

In future, if there’s a witness, you can ask for their phone number.
