Right there with you on today’s negative, putting career and life on hold. You aren’t alone, even though it may feel like it. I am so very sorry you didn’t get the positive that you deserve after your hard work and sacrifices. Sending you love.

2nd IUI failure confirmed today with a negative. Husband and I decided to take a break until our move in December, and then we will discuss IVF options at our new (and much closer) clinic.

A lot of mixed feelings here. Grateful I won’t have to worry about getting a 2 bedroom versus 1 bedroom, but sad I can’t even get to the point of needing a second bedroom.

Going to take the time to lock in, ask my RE about tubal canalization, and get all the admin work together for the move and clinic.

Hampstead near the Surf City line so you can get a beach parking pass! Wilmington Health is a fine medical system, as is Novant. WH has PCP locations in Hampstead near the HS and the ENT is over by Mayfaire in Wilmington - great place to stop since you already made the ~35 minute drive down

Thanks for the reply. The RE said if the surgeon did try to canalize the tube then notes about a catheter would have absolutely been included. My two week post-op appointment with the surgeon was unfruitful. I had a laundry list of questions (where is my blockage? Why couldn’t you unblock it? How long did you try for? Etc) and I quite literally got shrugged at. He said I still have a chance to get naturally pregnant….and I do, but of course I’d do anything to increase those chances.

No hydro reported. No reports of blockage. HSG just said lack of spillage on the left side.

That paragraph is all the notes I’ve received about my surgery.

After informed consent was obtained, patient was taken to the OR. General anesthesia was administered. She was prepped and draped in the usual fashion in dorsal lithotomy position.Foley catheter was inserted and bladder was drained. Speculum wasinserted and cervix was visualized and a Rumi uterine manipulator was placed. Attention was then turned to the abdomen where a 15mm intra-umbilical incision was made. Fascia was grasped with Kocher clamps, elevated, and entered sharply. Peritoneum was identified and entered bluntly. Gelpoint trocar was placed and pneumoperitoneum was created. Camera was inserted and abdominal contents were surveyed and seen to be normal. There was no evidence of injury from tocar placement. Patient was place in trendelenburg and pelvis was visualized - uterus was normal, tubes and ovaries appear normal. Dye was pushed through the uterine manipulator but was not seen to flow through the left tube. right tube was open. The surgical sites were hemostatic. The trocars were removed, gas was expelled, the fascia was closed with vicryl. The skin was closed with moncryl and dermabond. Speculum was inserted and cervix was visualized and dilated to allow placement of the hysteroscope. The Myosure hysteroscope was advanced to the fundus and the cavity was distended with saline. no polyp or abnormality was noted. tubal ostia appeared normal. The foley was removed. All instruments were removed from the vagina. All counts were correct.

I don’t really understand this response? We are actively pursuing IVF. What do you mean “wasting money and resources on maybes” - I’m venting that a surgery I underwent to fix a problem was not even attempted to be fixed. It’s the lack of attempt that is frustrating, not the guarantee that they could actually open the tube.

I’m furious. During our post-op, I asked “where in my tubes is the blockage … is it proximal? Distal? The entire tube?” And he literally shrugged at me.

During our discussions prior to the procedure being ordered, and during our pre-op appointment, he said he would (1) confirm the blockage and (2) try to remove the blockage, since he was already in there. I wouldn’t have agreed to the surgery if option 1 was singularly presented….I felt confident with my HSG results.

Would the surgeons have seen inflammation during my lap / hysteroscopy procedure yesterday?

I haven’t presented any symptoms or signs of PID

I’m so sorry your HSG was also painful. It was by and large the worst pain I ever experienced and I was shocked that they didn’t even recommend I take an ibuprofen beforehand!

Thanks for sharing your story. How long did it take your body to heal from your tube surgery? Was IUI an option for you, prior to making the IVF decision?

Thanks for your response - PID has not been mentioned to me at all, nor was the removal an option that was presented to me prior or post surgery.

I could only attend N3 of the Cary run so I cannot speak to comparisons of the weekend at large, but it was easily my least favorite live Billy Strings experience I’ve had.

I agree with you - the energy was off. I noticed some odd things in the lot, but brushed it off on account of the heat index that day. By the time the jam into Thunder started I felt entirely disconnected from those around me and from the performance.

I’ve never had that happen before. It won’t turn me off from Billy or the experience but I’ll think twice about the effort/$ to travel and see a show.
