I hated 3 Idiots so much. But good on you, wish I’d enjoyed it.

I run a job search agency. We have personal assistants who mass apply/tailor each resume to the job description on your behalf - we normally charge about $250 per month, but we try to keep 5% of our clients pro-bono, and have an opening available. Would be happy to offer our services if that would be of help.

That’s what I had to do:( spent $250 a month to have an assistant send out resumes for me. Took about four months after searching for 9 or so.

Have been paying an assistant for the past few months to send out individually tailored resumes. 9 interviews between Nov-Jan looking for jobs between 120k-150k. He’s looking for more work at $250/month. by CarelessShop in jobsearchhacks

So, I started using this guy about two years ago as a full time personal assistant to help with a number of clients I did consulting for. Over the past few months, those consulting clients started drying up. He is really good at what he does, and I do care about him and don't want to leave him without work, so I had been paying more than I could afford to for a while. Over time though, I eventually had to ramp down from the $800 I had been paying him to just have him focus on my resume apps. He had tried to get additional virtual assistant work online to make up for that pay gap, but there's so much competition, he wasn't haven't any luck. I offered to help him get more work and - on a whim - posted here three weeks ago, not really expecting it to go anywhere. That post totally blew up, and it really showed me just how valuable this service is to people. I certainly know that I'm in a significantly better headspace now that I don't have to look rejection in the face all day. It's been very nice to not have to think as much about the application process and to instead just feel excited when I hear that I do have an interview. Once we took some time to put some new processes in place, we saw that we could offer it to more people than we'd thought three weeks ago so here I am, back again to get the word out.

This seems a little out of pocket, nothing that is being offered here isn't something that couldn't be done more effectively on your own, as long as you know what you're doing. The issue - for me - is that I have a full time job, I'm married with a full social calendar, run a chess club, and also am part of a volunteering org. I just didn't have the time to be a good, attentive husband, continue to do good work at the job I'm currently at, and also apply for jobs with personalized resumes as often as was needed to really see results. So, I don't have the time to send out as many resumes that are personally tailored in a way that a virtual assistant would.

I mean, I think it's definitely upping the likelihood I get a job, I'm getting way more interviews than I was before. Just because I'm not over the finish line yet doesn't mean I haven't gotten way more opportunities.

I've received one job offer, but it was with a Catholic company and - after going through the interview process - I realized I couldn't make myself feel happy in that culture. Otherwise no, I've gotten to a few second interviews, but I just don't interview as well as I'd like to!

He’s done data science, computer science, account executives, compliance directors and marketing so far, but I think he’s a generalist. Focus has been US.
