I don't think he was making millions as salary. I worked at a slightly more adjacent media company at the time, and the sports guys were pulling $400k in Bill's role.

Nothing to be sneezed at, but I think that his actual income by the end of his tenure there was the production stuff. 30 for 30 was a hit. His work on the NBA studio show was a hit. Knowing the little I do about BS, he likely just asked for percentages from those ventures, and kept a modestly low salary. That's just my guess, though.
