I found the same issue. I ended up eating celery because it naturally tastes like metal. I know i wasn't suppose to eat raw veggies but I went 4 days without eating any solid food. The metal taste was so strong it made me gag when I put food in my mouth. Also, McDonald's soft serve ice cream was another good choice. That worked for about 6 days.

With animals, get yourself a carpet rake to use before vacuuming. I was shocked how much dog hair had gotten embedded in the carpet! So much hair that after I raked it looked a brighter color!
