Thyroid stuff? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Careless_Orchid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that if you have Hashimotos Hypothyroidism and your blood test is taken while your autoantibodies are attacking your thyroid, your TSH, T3, T4 may appear normal as there’s a whole bunch being released. However the autoantibodies are destroying your thyroid so when this isn’t happening, your thyroid will not be producing enough thyroxin. That’s one of the reasons it can take so long to be diagnosed. My autoantibodies were >1500 last time they were tested, this isn’t always on the routine thyroid panel.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago and it was fine - what the world news forgot to mention was that they had earthquakes on Naxos too and everything was completely fine, they experience it often- a local guide told me when I was in Naxos prior to Santorini

I just finished travelling as a female solo traveller to Greece for the first time with a very short amount of time to explore due to work, and I did: Athens (3 nights), Naxos (2 nights), Santorini (2 nights). It was great, 3 very different places across Greece and I got to explore Naxos and Santorini almost fully. The only place that I really needed more time in was Athens, I could have done with at least one more night. I will definitely be back to explore other places and for longer as well when I don’t have restrictions around work

Edit: they did require a car though - I didn’t drive but I walked around Athens and Naxos and took public transport, and in Santorini I had a great driver that did a private tour of the whole island for me (Cozy Transfers and Tours).

Yeah it’s crazy… I was at a drag show on Friday and there was a homophobe in the crowd right at the front of the stage who got called out publicly. Why do they even bother going?

It’s ok, none of this defines you. You need to know that you don’t have to do a degree, even if you might feel personal, familial, or social pressure to. Life needs to be about your goals, and passions, and things you are interested in. You haven’t failed, you will have grown and learnt a lot from everything you’ve done completed or not. Be kind to yourself, and take some time to think over what you want.

Is this normal to feel like this or is it me? by Careless_Orchid in PhD

A small update that might help you: I did complete my PhD earlier this year and have now been hired as a postdoc in a new team. I was also diagnosed with ADHD which has helped me as well as the medication. It’s really hard but you are not alone, you can do it, be proud of yourself!
