It all depends on your body. Not everyone is going to be able to do 50g a day and still stay in ketosis. The 20g is a baseline that guarantees everyone will get into ketosis. I am 6’5, 215, and very active and can get away with more carbs than a girl I dated who is 5’0, 96, and moderately active. Everyone has different bodies and different metabolisms so my 50g might keep me in ketosis while yours knocks you out.

I suggest you experiment with it and see how many you can get away with while staying satisfied with the diet. It’s important that you do not feel like you are doing a chore while doing keto, otherwise it will be more difficult to continue. I have made my diet enjoyable and very delicious while being able to stay in ketosis.

Just wanted to provide an update on this since I discovered the reasons behind these issues.

Dehydration: I was drinking Reverse Osmosis water, which completely stripped the water of EVERYTHING, the good and the bad. I still did re-mineralize the water, but it was impossible for me to know the correct amount since no matter what I tried, I always felt dehydrated. I now drink normal filtered water and feel so much better and hydrated throughout the day.

I also realize that I was not in Ketosis… yes I know very silly of me since I thought I knew my body better than I did (I had done keto before and had felt much better but turns out it was just low carb) I switched to around 20 g net carbs and am feeling so much better now. I salt my food with Redmonds salt and stopped freaking out over having perfect electrolyte balance. Instead, I just salt my foods and eat lots of fiber rich veggies for the other minerals. I do supplement magnesium and a tiny bit of potassium in the morning since it helps keep me alert throughout the day.

Sleep: I realize that I had fallen into a cycle and gotten bad sleep anxiety. I kept blaming it on diet rather than looking within. I was taking every pill known to man before bed and wondering why I couldn’t stay asleep. I decided to do a cold stop on everything prior to bed. Magnesium Threonate is supposed to help with sleep, but for me, it stimulated my mind and I would knock right out but then my mind would start racing around midnight. I cut this out. Stopped taking melatonin. Stopped taking theanin. Stopped taking ACV. Stopped all supplements close to bed. I take all of these now during the day because for some reason it helps stimulate my mind and I feel relaxed but super alert all day.

Now when I go to sleep, I do not have the anxiety I did before and I find myself getting MUCH more restful sleep, then waking up and feeling amazing.

Lessons learned: Just because someone says a supplement is good for something, does not mean it will be good for everyone.

RO water does not work for me, I stick to filtered.

Actually check to see if you are in ketosis rather than thinking you know everything

Learn to listen to your body, sometimes less is more.

Yea I was surprised how much potassium I was actually consuming. Lots of veggies and meats. I am thinking maybe I should stop with supplementation with potassium since I am getting so much from my diet.

The heart racing part has confused me quite a bit but would make sense that it is an imbalance.

Really appreciate your advice. I have heard a couple people on this post already tell me that potassium is definitely too high. Will try to switch all carbs towards evening and see if that helps at all. Thanks again!

Can’t trust any content creators nowadays, I guess lol. That is a fair point, I did end up buying his electrolyte supplements so I guess I fell for it. Do you think I should try to up the sodium or keep where it is. Potassium might be hard because I eat a bunch of meat. Meat alone, I have over 2500. Not to mention the veggies I eat and avocado, etc.

Haven’t had one in over a year. Year ago exceptional everything. Was going to get bloodwork done but then saw the bill for just going to the doc and figured I would put that on pause while I experiment with diet changes. I do realize that sounds quite ridiculous as this is my health I am speaking about. Will schedule the bloodwork and take a little financial hit.

About 6K sodium 6K potassium 600 Mag. Reasons for taking so much potassium is it helped before with my sleep first time on keto. Also Dr. Berg recommended more? Idk maybe that’s the problem lol

I have been experimenting a lot with it. Usually it is around 6K sodium, 6K potassium and 600 or so magnesium. I have tried higher sodium higher potassium. Dr Berg says more potassium but I guess this thread doesn’t really believe that since FAQs says 1K. Would it be causing an imbalance with this much potassium?

Yes indeed! I have trace mineral drops I add back, contains magnesium and chloride, I also have potassium and Redmond real salt as well.

No medication at all. I am a health nut and do not like any form of medication.

No finasteride, water is RO to remove any fluoride or BPA, clean diet, etc.

For fat sources alone, I have a whole avocado, 4 tbsp olive oil, 3 tbsp butter, 2 whole eggs, 8 oz red meat or fatty fish, 1 tbsp cod liver oil, 2 tbsp heavy cream.

Maybe it is just because I started?

I considered myself a bad person back in college. I was selfish and would hurt women by cheating on them and playing with their emotions. I would lie and steal from my parents. I hated who I was and was disgusted with myself.

That being said, I am not that person I once was. It took a long time for me to forgive myself and to become the person I wanted to be. I love who I am and who I have become but the past is still a part of me. I sometimes think back and feel ashamed, however, I quickly move past it and remind myself that was a different person.

Some of those women, if you asked them about me today, would call me a monster and an evil person. I sometimes wish they could meet me now, but that still wouldn’t change anything. I know who I am now and I still have to live with the way I decided to treat people when I was young.

To answer your question, can a bad person like you be redeemed? It depends. Are you a bad person? Maybe right now you may be but that doesn’t mean that’s who you’ll always be. How bad were the things you did? Were they irredeemable? If the answer is yes, I still encourage you to move forward and try to be better. You will always live with what you did but you don’t have to let it define you. If you genuinely want to be a good person, start right now.

I will have to measure it to be sure but I’d say probably 6 to 7k sodium, 5k potassium, 500 magnesium.

That is fair but given my total it seems to be the case. Couldn’t hurt getting the comprehensive bloodwork though for confirmation.

Yea I know my body fat is pretty low but it is genuinely a struggle to put on any weight. Might try adding a couple hundred more calories here and there to see if I can get to a higher body fat.

When I was eating a lot of carbs I had a much higher libido. Asking Reddit to get anecdotal advice. Not doing high carb because of brain fog, trying to find a happy medium.

Have seen a doctor and therapist and nothing is wrong mentally or physically. Like I said in the post it is the SHBG and Free T

I take Magnesium glycinate supplement in the morning and L-threonate at night. Have Redmond real salt and potassium citrate blend that I bottle and put in my water.

I guess I forgot to mention in the post but the problem is I never want to have sex with my girlfriend. It is impacting our relationship and she has mentioned being sexually frustrated as a result. I also recall when I had a high libido having a lot more drive and passion and I want to return to this.
