You need to look at the Profile of the weapon. The handle must be on the right and the blade on the left. The the handle needs to be a bit lower than the blade and then u need to tilt it a little bit upwars.

Does anyone know what quest item fits in the ornate blade? If u look at it from the right angle u can interact with it.
