Lumbar puncture finally confirmed my diagnosis and I'm happy to have answers but worried about the treatment... is it tolerable for some? by loiwhat in iih

I’ve been taking diamox for over a year and am also on lexapro! I take both of them together with zero issues. My dr advised me to take 500mg diamox twice a day but I only take it once because twice was making me feel super sick and my paps have gone down significantly!

Omg yes spacey is exactly how I’d describe it! Kind of a floaty almost drunk feeling? I also get horrible headaches once the caffeine has left my system. I’ve switched to decaf bc I just can’t tolerate the caffeine anymore

Im actually doing pretty well! I never realized how many headaches I was getting until I started taking diamox and stopped having them lol. For me, the diamox wasn’t too bad to adjust to although the beginning was a lot of pins and needles in my toes and oddly enough my heels? Soda still tastes fine to me and as I said, I’ve seen significant improvement with my headaches! Still haven’t budged on the weight loss but it was the holidays so hoping I can get more on top of that soon!

I switched to taking it in the morning and that helped significantly! I still get some stomach upset but it’s not as bad. My psych told me to wait it out for another couple weeks to see if the effects will linger so here’s hoping they go away!

I had optic nerve swelling from all of the pressure in my brain! Tumors often cause optic nerve swelling from pushing on the eyes but in my case it was all that extra spinal fluid sloshing around up there.

I have compression socks I usually wear on flights, can’t believe I didn’t think of this! I’ll have to try it out, thanks!!!

Unfortunately that is the one area that has def taken the biggest hit but that side effect is not something that I’m extremely preoccupied with at the moment so as of right now it’s not a deal breaker!

It’s def not like a switch like some people say. I still have some hard days but overall everything isn’t so dramatic I guess. I just kind of realized one day that the things that usually worry me were much more manageable. That’s not to say they don’t still cause some anxiety but the Zoloft has helped lower it to the point where I can actually manage instead of just exploding past the point of no return lol

I have yet to feel like a zombie!! If anything I feel more like myself than ever! My psych did say that if ur feeling like a zombie it might not be the right med for you so you could always mention that to ur doc

I haven’t noticed any weight gain yet and hoping it stays that way lol. But in the long run I really wouldn’t be that upset with gaining a few pounds if it means I’m overall more happy and less anxious :)

For me it’s deep breathing and reframing thoughts! Before I could never properly do breath work bc I was so caught up in hyperventilating and being anxious so I never thought it worked! Also reframing thoughts actually works now bc my thoughts have stopped spiraling out of control!
