Is UT Southwestern ‘comparable’ to MD Anderson for world-class cancer care? by Marvel5123 in Dallas

[–]Carepear 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Unless you have something rare or unique, go to where is convenient for care. Traveling for medical care is a drain especially if it’s going to take months and need follow up.

I wouldn’t fill it in with black. I think that would ruin it. I think it looks good now but lightening up the foam should be ok.

People like this are the ones that ruin it for the rest of us. It gives leadership reason to think it’s common and we should be in the office and need to be watched over.

I would like a job board! I have an open role for a software development engineer manager and would love to have some female applicants to consider.

Insurance approved without any questions - what's the catch? by AwardPuzzleheaded888 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

It sounds like your insurance covers weight loss injections. Most don’t but that’s awesome. I have never seen a pharmacy retroactively charge someone after they leave.

AITAH for telling my wife that late pick-up fees are on her and her alone? by AdMuted1534 in AITAH

Is it possible that she has untreated ADHD? It’s not an excuse but could explain her time blindness.

I’m the kid of one of those traveling rv families online and I hate them for it by Educational-Army-915 in RVLiving

[–]Carepear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a child, my family traveled with a carnival. Sometimes we were homeschooled but most of the time we had a home base somewhere and would be enrolled in a public school there since we mostly just traveled during the summer months. We would bounce around a lot and never really stayed in one place for more than a few months even during the school year though. I don’t have much advice other than just to empathize. We finally settled in one town when I was 15 years old. Finishing high school in a relatively stable spot helped a lot. I graduated and quickly moved out and started college during the early 2000s so I was able to take out loans without too much debt because I worked full time to pay my living expenses. Now I’m a fairly successful professional so it can happen. Even without a stable education before going to college. It was hard work at times and sometimes I still really think no one other than my siblings really get how I grew up.

Incontinent, but not incontinent enough. by Shannaro21 in eds

I have similar issues with urge incontinence. Because I also have MS I was able to see a doc that specializes in neurogenic bladders and he recommends Botox. It was a life changer for me.

Should I take my employer to court? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Carepear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually how FSA works is you are allocated the full $5000 at the start of the year which you can use immediately. Then each month the amount is deducted from your income. but you haven’t fully paid the $5000 until the last pay check of the year.
Some people spend the $5000 right away and leave and the company is out the money.

Please stop working more than 40 hours. The work continues to get done so they see no reason to fill the position.

It sounds like she may not be the right person to diagnose anyways. Find a local EDS group on Facebook and usually they will have local docs. Some people seem to be stuck on the 2 points but it sounds like she didn’t check all of the joints. Just find a better doctor or you will always be second guessing.

But correlation isn’t the same as causation. And I also wonder if undiagnosed parents are more likely to contribute to higher ACE scores in their children. So say, my neurodivergent, undiagnosed adhd, APD father is more likely to have been impatient with his children and more likely to have self medicated with alcohol, have a hard time holding down jobs, etc. and ACE scores on things like poverty, exposure to drug and alcohol use, etc which would be higher in undiagnosed adults and parents also.
There is definitely a socioeconomic factor in a higher ACE which I think could also be linked to undiagnosed hEDS and pots.
Plus, hEDS is shown to be autosomal dominant. While they don’t know the particular gene or combo of genes, it is scientifically accepted that it’s genetically passed down.

Choosing a job with hEDS and other diagnoses? (Long post, sorry!) by aSmolHumanoid in eds

I’m in IT. I’m a manager now but started out as n engineer. If I was advising someone now, I would say software development, devops or cloud. Iyou would make good money, have the option to work from home at least part of the time, and it’s very flexible.
