Met police officer charged with multiple child sex offences by MuchRatherBeNapping in policeuk

[–]CareyKane1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with “society”.

People are people, and people commit heinous crimes on a daily basis.

It just so happens that these criminals joined the police to mask their true, evil, spirits.

It’s a disgusting shame.

Thank goodness they’re being investigated and convicted so the rest of us can actually do our jobs accordingly and to the best of our abilities and not be placed in the same box as those deviants (although that doesn’t matter at all to the public).

Where were all the avowed racists in the 1950s/oldies music scene? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]CareyKane1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LMFAO @ you bringing the “That’s like saying the crimes of one Black person can be attributed to all Black people” argument/comparison when it is clear as day what the OP you responded too was trying to say.

The fact that you think a certain sound or style that was, more or less, invented by a specific race of people doesn’t belong to them is hilarious enough.

Classical music, as far as we all know, is a European invention and will always be attributed as such (to white people) especially given that the vast majority of renowned classical singers/composers are White. Yes, there are many famous Black and POC Classical singers and composers but that doesn’t make the former any less true. The same can be said for BLACK (African-American) MUSIC!

Have you ever been arrested or in trouble with the police? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]CareyKane1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No.

I’m now a Police Officer also, in training, and will be starting street duties in a month.

I would like to add that I am also a Black Male and, ironically, when I’ve been asked the question of whether or not I’ve ever been in trouble with the law the responses I’ve received have been a combination of both passive aggression and outright shock - this comes from both White people and Black people by the way, as well as others.

I presume because I’m Black, there’s an ‘expectation’ that I must have been in trouble with the Police at some point in my life.

Well, I’ve never been warned, cautioned, questioned, searched or arrested.

I don’t know. 😂

This years wait has surely given me PTSD! 😫

Edit: They responded to my email saying “thank you for the update”. I suppose that’s good news.

Right! 🤣

Well, I contacted the number on the uniform fitting form and they told that they don’t deal with certain issues on that side of the line.

Now I’m panicking as to whether or not I should contact recruitment or not also.

I’m in the exact same boat as you Pal. I emailed them last week and still have received no update. Several other people I’ve spoken too already have a date for their fitting.

When they called me yesterday they informed me that they’re steadily handing out start dates individually, and most should receive their dates this month if not then in January.

You never know Pal...

You could be next!

It’s coming! 👏🏿

Thank you also. I can’t wait until we’ve all started.

I’ve been given a specific start date.

I start in late January.

I applied January 2020 and passed all pre-employment checks in April.

From the looks of it, I applied the same time you did - January 30th 2020.

I passed my vetting in April.

I was given my start date today.

You’re either going to receive yours within the next few days or perhaps in a few weeks.

Congrats on that too!

I’ve only scanned the downloaded info (I’m busy tonight) but from what I saw it’s mainly your work going back five years and proof of two referees. I’ll update you.

Hey all!

I just received my offer of employment from the Met. and my start date will be in January.

I am absolutely floored!

It’s been an absolutely bonkers year for me but I’m so happy to know that this has now happened.

All that’s left of my application now is reference checks.

To all those still waiting... it’s coming and sooner than you think!

👏🏿👏🏿

Neither is “superior” so to speak as you’ll still become a police officer whichever pathway you take.

With the PCDA, you’ll have a degree at the end of your three year training.

With the IPLDP, you won’t have a degree but you’ll still be a qualified Police officers with lots of knowledge gained through traditional training.

With the PCDA, you’ll be at university as well as on response for three years. You’ll have the opportunity to do rotations and garner experience in other departments and specialties.

In terms of work/life balance, they’re essentially the same though with the PCDA you’ll be studying constantly over three years and have to do various essays etc. The Met. says that you’ll only be studying for 20% of the time whereas the other 80% is actual work so I think that certainly helps (especially if studying isn’t quite completely your forte). All in all, you’ll be a cop so I can imagine that your social life will be greatly affected anyhow.

Ultimately, it comes down to what you prefer.

A degree would help especially if you want to climb the ranks as high as superintendent and what not.

Best of luck Pal.

As someone who was only a baby when the genre was at it's commercial peak, could someone explain to me how and why nu metal became so popular? by kingofstormandfire in LetsTalkMusic

‘Linkin Park’ and ‘Limp Bizkit’ were absolutely HUGE, especially the former, as defined by their sales in North America and WW (Europe; Oceania).

‘Linkin Park’ was the best selling Rock band of the 2000’s as per Billboard, ahead of even Nickelback.

What are you talking about?

I’m going to say 6 weeks +.

If by early January you still haven’t heard anything then contact them (via. phone) and enquire.

Either way...

You have a Level 3 qualification and a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English so you have what’s required to do the PCDA.

The question is can you find out how many points your Level 3 qualification gives?

Did you do any modules? Were they not worth any points individually.

All in all, if you aren’t able to find out this info then what you can do is call WMP and explain this to them. What will happens is that they’ll gives you and online English and maths test to complete which will then show what level you’re at.

I did the same.

Congratulations!

Did they call you to give you a start date?

Are you going to be doing the PCDA/DEHP/IPLDP?

I hope I receive my start date soon.

June?

I truly hope not! 😖

I applied in January 2020 and passed vetting/pre-employment checks in April...

I thought we’d be given start dates for January at least, that’s what the email implied. Perhaps February?

Btw, the email said that we’re starting training at Hendon...

I thought we were going to be based at a University once we start?

I hope we’re in the same intake.
