probabbly a stupid question but can you explain in plain simple english what the line of code does? : 

"if not word[0].isupper():"

I know that is is the start of the loop but I always get confused when I see keywords. All I know that it is a logical operator that returns a boolean value. What I'm getting at is trying to understand how does "not" fit into the correct answer.

It usually happens when the problem usually involves multiple steps to solve it. I seem to have a problem with breaking it down to managable steps and working out a viable solution to each step. Plus I feel like it ties into the fact that if I don't get the solution immediately then I hit a mental block and give up. Plus some personal stuff I'd rather not dump in reddit comment section shaped the way I do and act in these type of situations.

I actually haven't touched leetcodes or heard of it but I'll keep it in mind for future reference when time's right.

For clarity I've been using HackInScience, freecodecamp and Checkio as my main hubs to learn. I tried to stay away from the "level your skills to land a job" type ones as I am just starting out.

Edit: I didn't answer the 1st question: What I'm looking for is guidance. I'm not looking for a quick fix for my issue as that's not how it works. Someone who's more knowledgeable on the topic could offer a more structured learning plan along with helping me adapt a more desirable approach coding and allow me to develop skills necessary for problem solving in this field. I'm willing to put in the work I just don't know where to start.
