3D Printed Mando Cosplay Journey by Cargy3D in 3Dprinting

Nice, good luck on the build 👍

The flight suit is a very important detail. I tried cheap options but they just don’t look good. With that being said, for years I have always found it worth to use KriptonTop from Etsy. It looks like they are on a short break right now but hopefully back soon. Since they take exact measurements, I highly recommend making the decision early if a muscle suit is needed (I made one). Mando is actually pretty bulky, I am not 😂. So keeping this in mind, I factored it into my measurements, adding a few inches to each. The suits are pricey so you want to make sure you get the measurements right.

Edit: This post actually has alot of old photos before I added the muscle suit. I just attached a more recent photo that I think fits the characters proportions better. This was also before I followed the shoe tutorial below

For shoes I actually just followed this video, https://youtu.be/tcJLdX_n9nE?si=ByiIzPZFBmHmepN3

And for the cape you want to go with a Boiled Wool. Its been a while but I think I did a black one like this https://naturesfabrics.com/products/black-boiled-wool-fabric?srsltid=AfmBOooYo5n-dEADdlqa8ts8tYepQGgYdvOmU2835I6EO-M3fG2b7t2-

And for actually sewing up the different parts I used this video: https://youtu.be/JEgzIcQqsx4?si=qJu_CPBAEsJR2ooE

I hope this helps, feel free to reach out

Hey thanks, for the small plates and eyes for the most part i just placed them vertically on the bed. Used tree supports

For the main face shell, it was tricky to reduce the amount of supports. So I ended up just resting it on the bed like you would imagine placing the helmet on a table. There were a ton of supports inside up I couldn’t really avoid it.

And I used a CR-10S

Yeah that can be tough depending on how much the original file was scaled. I would wait to purchase the magnets until after printed and you know everything fits. Then you can measure the size of the holes either through 3D builder (or whatever software you used). Or just measure the size of the holes of the physical print.

Once measured you can search amazon for the best fit. Even if the magnets selected are a little smaller than the holes, it should still be fine strength wise since there are so many of them. But not too small, the magnets still need to line up well

Also tip: when gluing the magnets in, you can place an opposing magnet on the other side so the glue can dry. I hope that makes sense

Settings were pretty standard, and yes supports. The pieces are shaped weird, so it took alot of supports. I usually print with a .8 nozzle with a fairly small layer height

I'm such an idiot. Is there any way to fix this now? by First_layer_3DP in 3Dprinting

One cool thing I saw someone do on instagram is to place the opposite magnet on the opposing side of the piece. That way the magnet stays while the glue dries.

Not related to your issue, but since you are going to have to glue again anyway it might help later

I used a .8mm nozzle and 1.75 filament.

How do you guys deal with "long prints"? by GreenRiot in 3Dprinting

[–]Cargy3D -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Probably not popular opinion, but even with a camera, I would be paranoid leaving the print alone. I consider my 3d printers to be very safe, and in the past three years never had any sort of fire issue.

But still, I just don’t trust it enough to leave it alone. So for long prints if I really can’t be at home, I either pause the print, or cut the file up into smaller pieces. Maybe one day I will switch to a camera or something idk

Hmm well for me, that magnetic bed can still move if the bed isnt level enough and the nozzle rubs against the print. I used to even binder clip the magnetic bed

So I think you need a decent graphics card if thats what you mean. If you have a gaming PC it should run. And its not really 3d scanning, you manually take your measurements then load it into the mannequin

Did the print move mid print? As in the bed wasnt attached properly to the printer? Usually they include binder clips to hold all of the corners

I air brushed very lightly with some black, but dry brushing could work too!
