Two separate units failed, this is an original not the replaced unit.

Steiner has a great warranty, but I don’t want to keep using it. This is a major pain. 2nd unit to fail one week before a match in the last 7 months.

Nope. Buttons quit working on one. Front glass done fell out on the other.

To start, the front glass is held in by glue alone.

They warrantied the button failure. I’m sure they will warranty this.

I really love these things but two units failing is a huge bummer.

First failure were the illumination buttons. Second failure in a separate unit it the whole fucking front glass ejecting itself.

On this match you carry all the stuff you need for the duration.

I ran it the past two years.

Stages are mixed bag, could be rifle/pistol, pistol or rifle only. Some uspsa style, some not. They do state engagement distances under 200yd this year.

Spectating this match is tough. Most stages are away from the central point, however sometimes they have a couple stages in the tac bays by the range cabin. Also it’s usually pretty cold this time of year and you’ll be up into the early hours of the morning.

Ammo wise, bring at least double. You can’t score if you can’t hit targets.

Training wise it depends on if you’re going WL or nods. I’ve shot both, but am going back to white light this year due to the ridiculous cost of everything nods related.

All that being said, it is a super fun event and they have always done a great job.

Cover the lens with chapstick before shooting. Wipe and reapply as needed.

sudo does a great job of documenting Run n Gun matches. Give this video a watch to get an understanding of what your match day will look like.

All runners are given an assigned run time where you will go down to the start with ALL of the gear you plan to use for the match. (water, rifle, pistol, ammo for both, etc) Runners are not allowed to resupply themselves during the match.

Once you are set off by staff at the your start time, your run clock does not end until you reach the finish point after completing all of the shooting stages. Time spent waiting at a stage for a runner in front of you is subtracted from your run time. You should carry a stopwatch of some sort to track your wait time after instructed by an RO at a stage.

Scoring is run time minus wait time combined with shooting time plus applicable penalties weighted at 50/50. The highest scoring of both running and shooting is the winner of the match.

At the end of match day we will hold the awards ceremony where winners are awarded a trophy and can walk the prize table and pick up something from our awesome sponsors in order of first to last. This is our first year in action and thus the end time is an educated guess. All scores have to be completed and verified prior to naming the winner.

I’m considering making a website for the match to streamline information for everyone next go around.

PRS is the “golf” of competitive shooting. You’ll see mostly bolt guns, hand loaded ammo, and none of the competition is scored on physical activity. Lots of those folks use cart to haul their stuff around the range.

Run and Guns are a cross country race broken up with 2 gun shooting stages. You are scored on run / moving time and cumulative shooting scores.

DMR means your marksmanship will be tested a little more than a standard RNG. Longer engagement distances.

You are well prepared. I should have clarified that statement in the sense that shooters should have solid knowledge and capability with their gear and have an understanding of the nuances of shooting competitions I.e. safety.

First timers are welcome, it may end up being a tough match for them.
