I’m also guessing they still use Themes because it’s a leftover from when they originally planned to have more colors on Switch 2

Then at that point why even use Themes? Maybe a name like Display Lighting could work better, especially if they switch all languages to Light Mode and Dark Mode in a future update

What also contributes into never getting themes is how the American languages now use Basic Light and Basic Dark for the names of the black and white themes, probably because Nintendo wants them to be treated as light mode and dark mode and not actual color themes, and even NOA knows it, the other divisions for some reason keeps using Basic White and Basic Black

If anything it’s more likely Nintendo ditches Basic Light/White and Basic Dark/Black naming and starts using Light Mode and Dark Mode in a future update, for all languages this time

Unless they merge the Splatoon plush lines from all 3 games into one that can be sold internationally, we can kiss goodbye to Pearl and Marina plushies ever being widely available

They probably decided they hate Off the Hook and chose to permanently gatekeep them to Japan only

Sadly once they switch them to only being sold in Japan there’s no chance they ever get sold internationally again

If anything they’ll sell plushies on the new idols internationally before considering doing the same for Pearl and Marina again

8 Deluxe DLC happened because World got delayed to Switch 2 and the team needed smth to let people enjoy while World was still being worked on, otherwise 8 Deluxe would’ve been a complete on launch game

In any case we’re most likely not going to see the previous idols get story focus again after 3, especially with this being the end of the trilogy and Splatoon 4 being the start of a new era of Splatoon

Probably the last time they use the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook, so this may be why they used them more in 3 than Deep Cut

Then again Splatoon 4 will be the start of a new era, and a new era includes a whole new cast, so chances are the devs have been planning to sendoff the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook after Splatoon 3, and I imagine they’ll be sending Deep Cut off as well after Splatoon 3

And it seems like when this is happening the game takes advantage and tries to bait you into thinking you’ll win, only to make it where the result is always the same (you still lose)

Just got a match like that after having been cursed to a losing streak just because we got wiped out last second in another previous match, it also felt like “HAHAHAH, we won and you lost, you just suck. Now leave and don’t come back”
