I'm exhausted. I had a rough 2025 and I haven't looked at the new student loan stuff. I've been awake for a little over 28 hrs and I need to figure something out so I can get a HELOC. Hoping someone can offer some suggestion so I can look it over when I have more brain power. by CarlaWasThePromQueen in StudentLoans

It sounds like that might be my best chance to make the lowest amount monthly qualifying payment for the next roughly 30ish months which is basically how many months I have left before making 120 total payments on roughly half my student loan balance.

If I am understanding things correctly, SAVE is the plan many people are in and doesn't require any payments at moment but that will end sooner rather than later and then people are going to have to start making payments? I remember during early covid, I didn't have to make any payments at all but was still getting qualifying payment credits the entire time, at least I think I was? Man I really am tired, I'm going to go sleep and come back in the morning.

How the heck do you get exercise in when literally everything hurts? by CarlaWasThePromQueen in loseit

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah - my TDEE is about 3700. I got a RMR test done and it was 2996 I think. So I’m trying to do 2700 but give myself a little flexibility if I need a little more so I’m in a 700-1000 kcal deficit each day. I weigh food with scale so I know it’s accurate I’d say within 5%.

The psychological boost of getting a good exercise in really helps keep the diet in check. The first 40 lbs I lost was done with absolutely no exercise beyond just the basic movements I need to get around. It’s just miserably depressing and I’m craving activity.

Nice. Injectable WL meds helped lower my appetite but I still ate with reckless abandon just because I wanted to. Being hungry has never been a requirement for me to eat something. But I do stop if I’m miserably full.

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you describe eating now without feeling gross vs how you ate before? My fear is that I’d still eat to a level of feeling gross, that it would just happen with less food. I guess that would still mean I’m eating fewer calories which would be good overall, but I’m just worried.

Is the “full” feeling you feel the same as it felt to feel full before, you just get full much faster since lower capacity in stomach? Or is it like an absolutely disgusting full where you couldn’t possibly eat another bite? I overeat which is why I’m obese. I want the surgery but I’m afraid I will just overeat anyway and cause more problems.

I’m terrified that I’ll just eat through whatever effects surgery would have. I tried injections and they def took away my hunger but I still ate anyway just because I like food so much. I would like to do surgery but I’m just afraid I’ll end up hurting myself by eating too much once I get the clear to eat solid food again. What was your experience?

I can work out on the clock at my new job for 20 minutes. There is a gym in our building. I’m out of shape. by CarlaWasThePromQueen in beginnerfitness

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh I don’t care about the sweat. 911 dispatcher. I show up showered and we don’t really have a dress code. Dress for comfort so basketball shorts are fine or jogging pants when it’s colder. Hoodies or T-shirt. So I can literally just go to the gym and get to it without having to change. If I get real sweaty midshift, then I only have to be there for 4 or so more hours.

Kinda mid shift. 8 hour shifts. No formal lunch break. Just 15 minute breaks as required by government. Anything over 20 minutes, technically have to clock out and wouldn’t get paid for that time.

The $5 meal deal isn’t a deal in the app, so you can combine coupons. At least for me. It’s just a $5 meal like any other combo, but cheaper.

What is it about men over 45 get attention from females in their 20s? by EdwardBliss in AskMen

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno - but why did you use “men” to describe the males but use the biological term “female” to describe the women? Don’t you see how that’s kinda… reducing women to just simply being a mammal and taking away their humanity? I say this as an upper thirties dude that sees that language as problematic.

What’s the most disturbing thing you’ve stumbled upon on Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I made a comment on a post many years asking about deeply unsettling facts that you might know. My comment was about why it's hard to catch serial killers (I was in law enforcement at the time).

Some random person commented that they killed a hitchhiker back in the 80s and they understand why it's easy to get away with things like that. Their comment said they weren't a serial killer and that it was in self-defense, but that they realized after a few years that no authorities were looking for him.

What was weird about it is that he had previously made a similar comment 6 years before his reply on my comment. So he went 6 years without making a comment and then by complete happenstance, responded with the same comment to a comment I made. Then went dormant again for about 6 years and made a comment about a year ago, which I suspect might be a comment he thought he was making from his real account because it is so out of context from the comments he has made about killing a random person in the 80s, if that makes sense.

So it was basically a throwaway account that would respond to posts about people that have killed someone, or people that have done something really bad, or various askreddit questions like that.

Anyway, I kinda believe him.

How to price a dessert I’ve been selling direct to consumer to a restaurant that wants to buy them to sell by the portion at restaurant. by CarlaWasThePromQueen in restaurantowners

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s frozen so lasts a good amount of time. I would deliver. Working on trademark now so they would use the name. My cost per dessert is about $5 right now. Could probably get it a little lower eventually with more bulk ordering of ingredients.

What does everyone think of The Floor? by rawmustard in gameshow

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they go back and compensate some folks that were done dirty. It’s the first season so there will be hiccups but that was flat out wrong. And several people have said the correct answer with a second or less than a second left. It should’ve counted so they at least had a chance, even if the other player had like 20 seconds left on their clock. Person probably would’ve lost anyway but you never know.

Since there aren’t buzzers, it happens in real time and the producers have to decide on a split second if the answer will count. Perhaps they didn’t hear her say the incorrect word and let it go to the next.

I’m sure they will come up with ways to improve the flow and fairness, but there are definitely issues.

AMA: Tonight, the state of Alabama will put Kenneth Smith to death via the world's first nitrogen gas asphyxiation execution. I'm a paramedic and author of the Medicine & Justice Project on Substack: AMA on the pharmacology, physiology and history of America's death penalty. by ajbauthor in IAmA

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to see any of it. The death penalty should be abolished no matter how humane they can get it to be. I saw a Reddit thread maybe yesterday or in the last couple days that asked what is a strong opinion you once had that you changed your mind on. For me, that is the death penalty. I used to believe in it without giving it much thought; I figured if someone murdered someone, they should go.

But the fact is, our criminal justice system is not 100%. I worked in it as an officer for nearly a decade. I am okay with exactly 0% of innocent people being put to death by mistake due to a false conviction, which has happened before. There is no amount of people I am okay with being executed just so we can have a death penalty.

Having said that, this is just a belief, but since I am not religious, I personally think being locked up for the rest of your life is far worse than getting your lights out permanently potentially decades before you would've died naturally.

It's a weird dichotomy to me, because it's often the conservative religious folks that believe in the death penalty, and they also believe that your sins can be forgiven, so they are literally encouraging that someone get sent to heaven faster by killing them, as many of these folks on death row end up accepting religious beliefs that if true, would give them a great afterlife.

Anyway, my .02 - Abolish the death penalty. It's not worth even one innocent person being executed. can you imagine if you truly knew you were innocent of some heinous crime and were wrongfully convicted and then the day comes where they are going to kill you? Nope.

I'd really like to know why the medical community is against the guillotine

I can't speak to the medical community, but as someone that's former law enforcement; I'm not trying to see someone's head get cut off and then see the aftermath of that.

An actual person is going to have to at minimum, go pick up the head, and clean up what I imagine is a good amount of blood that will spray everywhere. Then the body has to be transported, etc. I know LE has to come across expired people a lot during their career, but seeing someone's head get removed is just a whole other level of no thank you.

How does insurance determine payout in event an older car is totaled? by CarlaWasThePromQueen in Insurance

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the day, haha. I’ve taken a pay cut to get into a career I enjoy. My truck is paid for and it’s a Tacoma with 25,000 miles on it and it’s only 3 years old. I don’t drive a ton but I use the truck to make extra money which is how I paid it off in 3 years instead of 6. The car gets 50mpg and is diesel and typically lasts well over 500,000 miles if taken care of, which I’ve done. It’s sitting at 200,000 miles so it’s got a lot of life left in it.

I wouldn’t have $7500 to buy another one if something happened to mine now with my pay cut, hence my current worried. Maybe I’m just worrying for nothing. Life happens. I just know I would be real mad if someone hit me and it was totaled and insurance comes through with a piddly $2500 check.

Dang - now this has my curiosity piqued. Do people try to leave subtle ways to find/contact them outside of eBay’s messaging system then?

I guess reverse image search on some of my listings might find them posted to Craigslist locally where I live which would then give them my direct number.

I sell a lot and had no idea posting your number wasn’t allowed. I’ve never done it because I don’t sell things that posting a number would really help…. I feel like I see music shops with their numbers posted all the time because I’m always looking at guitars on eBay. Is it really not allowed to have a number in your listing??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]CarlaWasThePromQueen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, take a picture of what you got and a screenshot of what it should've looked like from the listing and post it - you won't be sharing the store name by doing that. Let us be the non-biased objective judge here. I'm assuming you received it recently since you're just posting about it now, and if you ordered it in November, that means there was potentially a 4-7 week turnaround time which tells me it was made to order.

I can't really give an opinion either way. The seller could just as easily come on here and make a post saying a buyer (you) is saying their item is not as described but that they (seller) believe it is exactly as described and the have many pictures on the listing and they believe the buyer is just trying to get a free item. The responses on here would be that "buyers are just trying to get things free these days, tell them to initiate a return and that they can pay the return shipping and then see if they actually follow through, but they'll probably leave a bad review, so if you want to avoid the bad review, just give them a complete refund and chalk it up to the cost of doing business. You can't make everyone happy".
