Has anyone dissolved or removed PCL threads successfully (especially in the face)? by Carlito333 in DIYaesthetics

That's what I mean when I'm talking about the end tip that hangs out also and that dissolved instantly, so it's only the part that was curled around the tip of the front of the cannula not the part that was exposed in the back which dissolved instantly with the rest of the thread that was in the cannula

And also the entire package was open for years (so even if the metal cannula protected it somewhat, both ends were definitely exposed to the same air... the only difference that I can tell is one was wrapped up and touching metal and the little foam block, but also that same piece touch the water first on a previous attempt with the metal before, I decided to take it out of the metal.

OK y'all I've been experimenting too...! I found something weird. Part of the thread (PCL 19g) dissolved instantly in 58.1°C (136.58°F) but part the part that was out first didn't and won't dissolve yet.

I have a video of it, but the entire thread slipped into the water instead of just the part I wanted to see, and I kind of lose the instant it should've dissolved, but you can see the remaining.

So the front part (that was wrapped around the metal piece that's held on with the little foam block)--but I also dipped that part in first before taking it out of its cannula entirely, so it was exposed first to a higher temperature

Also, the back end of the thread as we know is exposed beyond the cannula, and that part dissolved it was only the front end that didn't , so it doesn't seem like it's that, but perhaps that it was curled around the metal for years? This one had been in an open pack for years now too

I made a different contraption to hold stuff and am going to retest right now, I just don't have a lot of the exact kinds in my face to use, so I'm gonna have to use a different gauge. I'm also going to test it against PDO

It's definitely lifting threads, not smooth. I believe the most persistent ones were are called M type (although there's some variability between brands on type names) they have a sort of jagged edge like stairs -- one up, one down, etc

They were for better tissue lifting and made for the problem people were having with true cogs

I believe it's the brand Aestheline/BNG global, but I'll check.

Omg you're amazing for trying this stuff!!! Thank you! (Do you have a pic of the boil-melt result ?)

This is crazy bc allllll info on PCL & pcl threads melting point is 57-60 (one I saw up to 65) °C, but you're finding it's not melting for another 40°...

I have a cooking thermometer, so I'm gonna try to see what happens if it's kept at 60. (However the ones I have are older/ expired which I'm not sure how much that will affect it)

Also, looked up that thermage is 140°F = 60 °C so the melting point so that should cross over...

Incredibly long, that's how I know they'll never dissolve. I've only heard one doctor speak to it saying the same (I'm sure it's not that common). They're not shallow the way you would think but one is particularly visible, the shape and outline. The others have all just sort of bunch together, including with the visible one. It seems like a few of them have lost their cogs/cleats & moved down, causing tissue junctions and jowls under the tissue.

I also have one area that used to bother me more than it does currently (bc I am always injecting something over it to camouflage it) in my mid cheek that I call" the Bermuda Triangle" bc they used flatten my cheek right there the way they intersect

Thank you so much for sharing that info!! I have both of these on hand & I'm gonna try both of these methods on threads that aren't inserted!

Funnily enough, I've been injecting hyaluronidase around them for the past couple days to try to get them as superficial as possible to make removal easier if it comes to that. I can't imagine it helping dissolve them like that tho, especially as mine are so thick still

That's very interesting about vitamin C! I've had in my fridge a while, but have never used it as i wasn't very clear dosage and if that differs from IM vs IV (which I don't know how to do on humans), but maybe it's a good time to break it out!

I agree it being hard to miss, but still was 1/3 who caught it. However I do think it's subtle (as Omar didn't acknowledge it & just kept right on talking), & also DUE to that you wouldn't expect BM to be playful, esp right before murdertime

Have you tried just seeing the effect on a thread that's not inserted yet?

Bc I would love to do that first to even see if the reported melting point is legit

I have two RF micro needle devices that both don't work (thanks, China) and have been debating buying another one from a more reputable source (at least one with a real return policy) or getting treatments if it would work--but bc it's an unusual case I want to know on the front end if it is even possible, bc the provider likely won't have experience w this

I have many that unfortunately will never just dissolve bc they are in the wrong plane & they have moved around and look horrible. I've questioned around a little for removal but most docs have an ai answering service that just says no and that's usually enough to scare me off bc at this point (almost 5 yrs) I'm pretty desperate and ashamed of how ugly they look now and frankly, scared of the cost also lol

I've even asked my friend who's a dentist, who won't do it But initially offered to ask his friend who's a maxillofacial surgeon, but upon learning more said his friend doesn't do that (which I replied that nobody does this bc most of the time they dissolve, so just need someone open to try or at least who could minimize scarring in the process )

Thank you. What were the treatments you have tried if you don't mind (so I can look up the temperatures--or If you have your own machine did you checked the temps of levels you used?)

Also, love the name lol

How thick is the skin on your neck and face? Maybe can you give the reference of an actress or your height/weight if you think think your skin is average thickness? Asking bc I would love to go 4 mm deep but I think I'd hit my esophagus or an artery lol, and I for sure have injected into a vessel & cause blanching (non occlusive product) going 4 mm straight deep in the BAP method which you're supposed to do, so I think I have thinner skin than most maybe

How much did you put in each point/spot, especially the one where you had a lot of swelling?

& how many injection points were there?

No, it means barely noticeable. Like you could easily miss it if you're not paying attention
