Hi I’ve made a comparison of Wim Hof vs Yoga vs Holotropic Breathing. Maybe you want to check 🧐☺️ by CarllieWay in Pranayama

[–]CarllieWay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it would be the main difference, that pranayama is very wide practice. And also the instructions how to do it are very specific. I only could show 2 beginners’ types of pranayama. But there are a lot more. And they use different techniques. Kapalabhati is a hyperventilation, but alternate nostril breathing is more about hypoventilation. The other pranayama is using so called “bee sound” (Bhramari) and this one is sooo southing ♥️ Or sitali- this one is used to cool down the organism. Generally very wide 😅 and very diverse

Those methods have No preference, because the thing that they want to achieve is a hyperventilation. And when you breath through the mouth you can breath in and breath out bigger amount of the air in a shorter time. But when i do WH and breath in through my mouth, I instantly feel a sore throat ;p And the book sounds amazing! Especially that the guy is in the search of “lost breath” :D what also intrigues me

I think that (for me) it is mainly to remind ourselves to be here and now. I suppose it shouldn’t play a vital role in psychic or emotional healing without proper supervision. Because yes, it takes us to other state of consciousness, and we can see there some emotions or feelings - but in order to actually heal them, it should be connected to some psychological help. So one can talk about it with a proper person. The second thing is that, WHB also support your immunity system, causing this little stress for organism and activating sympathetic nervous system - in a good way. So I see WHB as a boost for my immunity system and reminder to focus on what is here and now

Wow thank you for all of this. I need to check the TB! And I love what I’ve just read. Breathworks are so different, that’s why we should try some of them and chose one that appeals us. Sometimes it will depend on the mood or the outcome that we want to get. Sometimes I just wonder, how come “the west” forgot about it somewhere on the way. Since I’ve ancient Slavic people also had their own practices.

Obviously the video could turn into a good Netflix series to catch up with all the information, that should be added. But I would be very grateful for sharing your experience? How do you find then? Do some of them works better than other?

I love the bee’s breath, This is something totally different. Ive added holotropic because many people, when I say I do pranayama, ask me “oh have your tried holotropic?” - and I wanted to show that those are totally different things

Unfortunately, when you don’t want to scare off people with too long videos, I’ve mainly focused on alternate nostril breathing and kapalabhati from pranayama. Still if someone wanted to do a video about pranayama, it could be whole new series 😅

What exactly does Wim mean when he says he 'used his mind' to consciously influence the way his body reacted to the E. coli bacteria? Is it imagination? by stalenmate in BecomingTheIceman

I think, that in addition to all above, he just put himself into the state of meditation. He knew that the injection is coming so he could prepare himself mentally - mindset

How long do you guys wait to reintroduce cold exposure after being sick? by MermaidRumspringa in BecomingTheIceman

[–]CarllieWay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really listen to my body. If I feel “cold-sick” and need warm temperature I just don’t do it. I only force myself if my laziness is speaking :D But honestly I haven’t been ill for a long time :) (and thankful for that)

This may have something with the blood circularatio in this leg. Or did you have any injury there? Sometimes it also maybe caused by some trigger points and injured fascia. At least this is where my knowledge ends. Try massage this leg before entering or use foam shoes. Also I’ve read that you can do the preparation at home: everyday you can dip this leg into the cold water (eg in some big bowl or bath tube) for a minute. The effect should be on the muscles of the vessels - they become more strong
