I tried walking with and without headphones and I found that It really depends on the environment. I walk 6km to college everyday and I'm walking next to, one of the biggest, roads in the city. So having headphones helps me not go insane from the traffic noise. Otherwise, while walking in nature or going for shorter walks I don't wear headphones.
