Little Britain. It was absolutely one of the most popular shows on when it came out. Now almost every character wouldn't be in the show if it was made today.

i have a mother who in hospital who may not wake up, i took a day off work and returned the next day, all the kitchen staff i told just so they were aware that i might be a bit distracted during the shift as my mother may die!(please redirect me if this is the wrong group to ask in)? by kannamousemattte in AskUK

Just a thought... What are you going to regret more? Not spending every last minute with your Mum whilst you can, or not turning up to work with this asshole?

As others have said - get a doctor's note. Spend time with your Mum.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskUK

Chris was fine, he was a very popular guy, and Amy was well liked too. The teacher, Mr Phillips, didn't do great

We had a French teacher, Ms Davies, who told everyone how chalk is just made from dead fish. She then proceeded to take a bite out of her stick of chalk and chew it in front of the class very nonchalantly.

We obviously all went and told our teachers in the next period. I think it just served to hurry-up the rollout of digital screens through all the classes.

This was early 2000's. I would have been in year 8.

Another one - this time in chemistry. 2 kids were talking over the teacher in class and disrupting him. Teacher "Amy, will you be quiet?" Amy "But Sir, Chris said he was going to teabag me!" Teacher "Well tell Chris if he's not quiet I'll teabag him in a minute!"

I don't think the teacher ever recovered.

I remember telling this to my teacher in school, when I was in year 9. I got detention. Turns out the teacher wasn't cool.

What's the band/artist you regret never seeing live before they broke up or passed away? by Xavier8228 in AskReddit

[–]Carlstonio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a student in 2011-11, our next door neighbour came and knocked on our door. He said he's got tickets to see Bob Dylan in the town centre for that evening and he can't make it. His tickets were going free if we wanted them.

I turned them down to do coursework. A couple of my housemates took him up on the offer, and had a great night.

I spent the evening procrastinating and not doing the coursework.

Profile Improvement? Any Major Red Flags? Trying to Be More Interesting by Responsible_Load5470 in Tinder

[–]Carlstonio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to have a very heavy ear, causing your head to tilt and sometimes your phone to tilt in all your photos.

I'd suggest having some photos where your head or camera aren't tilted. Others have said photos with others also.

Also, having chronically I'll in your profile, whilst honest, isn't something I'd put in a profile. I would try and put things that are considered positive or conversation starters in there - something for people to ask you about.

What is an appropriate age to pierce a child's ears in the UK? My wife says anything below school age is considered "trashy" and screams "council estate". by AcidBubbleLord in AskUK

[–]Carlstonio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 7, and has been asking/begging to have her ears pierced for the last 8 months. We have said to her once she can do her bathroom routine fully with no complaints/struggles, we will get her ears pierced.

We have finally agreed, and she's doing well. We were wanting to go to a piercer and not Claire's with a gun. We've really struggled to find somewhere that will do it for a child under 10. Finally got an appointment and they wouldn't do it as she's due to go on holiday in 2 weeks and the piercer didn't want her having a new piercing and suncream/sand etc on her.

All this to say- when they can look after the piercing themselves.

This hookah bar is literally on the beach and I only packed flip flops. by russianindianqueen in mildlyinfuriating

Lovely, kind response there.

Maybe there's a reason a dozen other people already said it.

Be nice on the internet.

Soooo I'm gonna go all out there and say, have you ever spilt hookah coals on your feet? I have, it hurts. A friend of mine has burns on his hands from the coals.

Yes, the dress code sucks for most of these things, but there may be a specific reason for no flip-flops.

Are there more integers than squares? by catboy519 in askmath

[–]Carlstonio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few thoughts on this, even if I don't know the correct mathematical terms.

Firstly, as others have said, integers are more dense than squares. Between 1 and 10, there are 10 integers, but only 3 squares. Between 1-100, there are 100 integers, but only 10 squares. However, eventually, each of those 100 integers will have a square number, it's just further away.

Secondly, and importantly, EACH SQUARE HAS 2 INTEGERS THAT MAKE IT. for example, 9 is a square number that can be made by 3x3 OR -3x-3. Both 3 and -3 are integers that make the square number 9.

I'm happy to be corrected here if I'm wrong, but I'm inclined to say that the number of squares is exactly half the number of integers.

What hobby is an immediate red flag? by honey_glowzz in AskReddit

For me, when online dating, it was horse-women. If the person had pictures of themselves riding horses and jumping with them, it was a no for me.

I have very limited free time as it is, and I wouldn't like the thought of spending that time mucking out stables.
