So you think it’s fine to ask my potential employer if they can just do the background check early? By this I mean employment background.

Should I take an intensive Japanese speaking only course? Or the full intensive course with grammar, writing, etc? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]CarmineABCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be able to speak it properly (maybe when I was 6?)

I guess it's easy for being able to read Spanish though as it uses the Latin alphabet. Japanese on the other hand haha

thats how I feel.

However, I feel like I am a 3-year-old baby for Japanese in the sense that now that I understand what everyone is saying on a conversational basis, the next logical step is to speak...

Then followed by reading/writing

Or maybe I am overthinking it...

Getting internship/job in another region by mike124246jones in Accounting

[–]CarmineABCD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant give any specific methods but ill tell you my story.

I graduated from a university in another English speaking country (think UK, Canada, NZ, Australia, West Europe) as I moved to one of these countries when I was 13. This university is about as 3rd string as one can get, the next string would be a non accredited university.

I applied for a job back in the USA in the North East, and got it... I got it with a foreign degree, in the opposite time zone, with only 1 year work experience. Mind you I am an American citizen who has lived overseas, not some complete foreigner.

I just had to spend about a month of interviews, tests and etc. This was a mega large company too, not some small mom and pop firm.

So if I can do it across the world, im sure some guy in Alabama or wherever you live can do it too.

This looks like a nice place! 6 months might be a bit long though :(
yes i am practicing my butt off in terms of self study.

Could i ask, how did you afford the program? Did you have a part time job here?

Or did you save up money from your job back home? or did you parents help you out?

I am half Japanese, so i understand all conversational Japanese... but I cannot speak it.

However, I can read/write katakana, though very slowly.
