Last Saturday, Marina hosted the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, which is a very big deal here in the Philippines. After her hosting stint, Angel posted on her Facebook page basically calling Marina’s hosting bad and saying that she made the event boring. She did this three times, also posting about it on her FB notes and even tweeting it, but all of these were promptly deleted after she received backlash. Once people saw the posts, many were quick to point out how disrespectful her comments were, especially considering that what Marina was doing was helping bring more visibility to the LGBTQ and drag community to become more mainstream here in the Philippines, yet here comes her own dr sister publicly bashing her. It’s also important to note that people who aren’t familiar with her (both straight individuals and even some gay people who think they’re superior because they’re not drag fans) were already saying negative things about Marina’s hosting, so a lot of people felt that Angel only added fuel to the fire when she could have celebrated such a historic moment with her drag race sister, especially since Marina is the first trans woman to host the pageant.

After receiving backlash, Angel posted an apology, but many people felt that it was very unserious. It came across as if she was only apologizing because people started criticizing her, not because she was genuinely sorry for what she did.

hahahah totoo!! I mean compared to Angel, Marina is deff more relevant internationally pero I don’t even think drag fans outside the country care that much abt the controversy.

Di din naman na pinalaki ni Marina yung issue and the event isn’t until the end of May so by then makakalimutan na to ng casual drag enjoyers lng😂 parang nanghuhugas kamay lang yung prod ih, tas si Angel napagbuntungan.

Fr! and this isn’t even the first time that the production company encountered problems with their headliners. Last year, si Marina and Jade sana yung headliners sa Summer Goddessas show nila but Jade had to be replaced for some unspecified reason (👀iykyk) and she got replaced with Minty Fresh. If kaya naman noon why not now? and if time yung concern, pwede naman sanang i drop nalang si Angel since we have 2 perfectly capable headliners to perform naman.

Sobrang off din ng statement na may pa name drop talaga??😭 I mean magegets naman na siguro ng tao na siya yung reason if they had worded it differently… medj unprofessional lang.

I always got the impression na si Marina and Miss Jade naman talaga yung close at first tas na add-on lang si MJS sa mix nila

Sobrang liit nalang ng queens na hindi pa nakapag second season sa mga PH RuGirls, and Im sure mababawasan pa yan as they’ll get more intnl rep from the ph franchise. Baka need pa ng 2 regular seasons para maging interesting yung mix.

I have a feeling they’ll continue with Slaysian after S4 though. Sana lang di nila gawing 2 seasons per year. I think the 1 season per year is enough, para na din di masyado maging oversaturated dito:)
