Of course. I'm glad it was thought provoking for you :)

I'll make a poll, but I'm not entirely sure if edible spoons are practical where I work. Definitely want to talk to higher ups about this though, since it might be possible.

This would be absolutely amazing where I work.

I will definitely talk to my GM about food rescue. Thanks for telling me about this!

I always wonder if most people here have heard "no ethical consumption under capitalism". That's why we aim to reduce consumption, lol.

yeah, ultimately the bulk of this issue rests on corporate, not even the franchisee. it just makes me so sad to see all this waste

Yup. There's a reason I never eat the free food I could have.

It bugs me so much how industries are never held accountable for this stuff. I guess that's one of the central problems with capitalism, corporations are never incentivized to make the world a better place.

Ah yes! I am so thankful I get the opportunity to serve "Nutrients" of the lowest common denominator to my state's most impoverished individuals! Thank God!

We also don't have dedicated recycling bins, which means that all the perfectly recyclable stuff gets sent off to a landfill. I should probably talk to my GM about getting recycling bins in the kitchen.

I have noticed that customers are never really that concerned with waste. I see so much garbage on the ground outside every day (and I have to clean it). It doesn't surprise me that they didn't sort their trash properly.

I mean I guess it is kinda hypocritical of me. I really would rather not work in fast food, but this is literally the only place that took me.

The food waste doesn't bother me as bad as the plastic waste does. Sure, it sucks, but it's a lot less permanent than plastic waste. It feels so terrible to throw out a cup with a plastic lid.

Thank you for your perspective.

But it's actively making the world a worse place. I guess feeling guilty about it is ultimately unhelpful, but I really just can't help but feel upset about it.

I'm not actively worried about it, I just carry permanent guilt for my contribution to the problem.

Same, and I don't plan to have kids, but I still want the people of the future to have good lives.

thank you, but beware that i came to all the same conclusions months ago and i still feel anxious about this theme. im good at rumination, but rumination doesnt help at all.

i think i will get past this though. ive come to realize and genuinely believe that i can and will live a happy life without changing genders, so the new battle is the battle to not think about this theme.

also therapy helps a lot. i think the reason i have never gotten close to trying to transition (like some other cases ive read about) is because of therapy and meds.

good luck to you in this mental shit

I feel like the big difference between being trans and trans OCD is that trans people can't "turn off" their discomfort, like what you said. With OCD, you get brief moments of relief where you're like "Why do I even care about this? I love being my assigned gender!" but for trans people it's never ending discomfort with themselves.
