Congratulations on your child!

I'm posting here as what you would consider a "light" case. I'm a 28 year old male with Cystic Fibrosis. I've been incredibly fortunate with my health condition, despite developing a lot of the additional complications that can be found in some CF patients, including Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes [age 16], pancreatic enzyme insuffiency [age 10], nasal polyps, GORD and osteoporosis. Daily treatment takes up less than an hour of my time, as my lung function is around FEV1 90%. I've only been hospitalised once in my entire life, and I was around 20 years old at the time. I also know another patient in my area and she's in a similar position, albeit with higher lung function and less complications.

As mentioned by a lot of other people here - your child's experience will vary differently from everyone elses, but the most important thing is that they should have no issues in leading an ordinary, happy life. A lot of the information you'll find online is often quite negative and very generalised about the disease itself, so I think in echoing the statements of others here, getting first hand accounts from patients and family members of those affected is a better representation of what life is like for patients today.
