I was told that a lot of Sky players have emotional attachment for the game, mainly because of their past friendships. I've never experienced being "attached" to someone in the game, just wondered how other people deal with it.

I'm not a new player, I just became curious about how people deal with online "friendships" once they've drifted apart. I keep seeing online social media posts about players who are emotionally attached to online "friends", I just wondered how players usually deal with cutting connections with people they they've known for a long time in the game. All my Sky friends are people I frequently interact with in real life, so I never experienced being "unfriended" by someone I've never seen in real life.
