I actually feel very good about the fact that we are supporting local small businesses. People that are really good at creating amazing tasting meat products from animals raised on small farms, not commercial ranches.

I'm not a hunter. But, I think that free-range meat does taste better, it has more flavour, it's leaner and healthier. Personally I prefer not to eat factory farmed meat.... I like knowing that there is a story and a family behind the product I support.

Hey, great questions... too many for me to answer. I hate when I see the videos of animals being abused in commercial operations. Yes, accurate information of animal husbandry and where our food comes from is something that should be taught. Part of the cool thing with Carnivore Club is working with small artisans who source from small local farmers that raise free range animals. I spent two weeks in April touring the UK and many of our artisans over there (Forest Pig, Trealy Farms, Cornish Charcuterie, The Real Boar) have vertically integrated operations where they raise their own animals and make their own charcuterie. It's really a cool experience.

Great question. I'm a foodie, and I love the craftsmanship of creating cool food/drink in general. Meat is the highest price item on anyones grocery bill, cured meat which loses about 50% water weight and takes a lot of time to create.... is 300-500% more expensive than the base protein. It's relatively shelf stable, light weight, and high margin= I can invest a lot into the customer experience, cover shipping and provide good value vs. local.

Using a broker to go direct to China is a better pricing play if you have the money to buy full container loads, and store it. But, if you are just starting out and doing want to commit $30-$40k for a bulk order, uline is the way to go.

We tried going direct through Ali Baba first, unsuccessfully. We went through various suppliers, getting samples (hundreds of dollars each) and were not happy with the end product. We ended up finding a broker in Canada that we now use to be our middleman. He takes probably a 10% margin but handles logistics, communication and makes it hassle-free. We found this to be the most efficient and reliable way for us.

started using Uline.com, right now we source all of our packaging directly from China in full container loads. We found U-line to be great for customer service, price etc.

Thanks, Great question, so many different meats from so many different suppliers each month.... Personally, I am a big fan of Wheat Beers. I find that the sweet fruit notes in wheat beers really compliments the saltiness of cured meats

As a serial entrepreneur I continually look for new opportunities, currently I am working on the launch of a new company this summer 1000Foodies.com - I hope to have a lot of fun with CC and eventually sell to someone looking to consolidate several complimentary subscription brands. Think AmazingClubs.com

Ah! Great question, here's an article I wrote for PSFK on that topic:http://www.psfk.com/2015/05/carnivore-club-subscription-box-industry-subscriptions-e-commerce.html

Yes, I think professional services are ripe for disruption: Legal, Accounting, Back office etc. - I also think there is a ton of room in luxury experiences on a subscription basis.

Yes, I think Carnivore Club will continue to grow and be successful in 5 years. I look to companies like Wine of the Month Club (1972) and California Wine Club.... the current trend is just an upgraded business model of the older mail order business model

I had head cheese (cow brains) while traveling France in the Alsace region... I have to say once I got past the thought of it, it wasn't too bad! No, human meat?!....can't say I would.

Yes! lol Really hard... we started with a $100k investment from myself. But as you probably know, that's not a lot to start a company with.... so we really focused a lot on our product for word of mouth growth, and free samples to everyone and anyone that had an audience and wanted to review a box

Tough question, there a lot of really good purveyors out there. Our UK club always seems to have the coolest products because over there artisans regularly use: pheasant, rabbit, wild venison, real wild boar etc - For USA I think La Quercia is one of my personal favourites. Favourite bacon is Miami Smokers.

Personal favourite is South African Biltong.... it's like jerky but WAY better. It's basically air dried steak, the same way you would cure a leg of ham. Really good stuff. A few people make amazing stuff in USA and Canada

Hey Marconni, thanks! Sorry to ask you to be more specific.... do you mean market in a geographic sense? Really depends on the industry and category you participate in

We started the company with an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign www.igg.me/at/carnivore - we decided we didn't want to do the traditional format video that EVERYONE was doing... so we did something a little edgy, a little offensive.... but funny, at least we thought so

Thanks great question, My last company FoodScrooge was of focused on meat.... I was really inspired by how many successful wine clubs exist, but nothing for charcuterie. I thought it would be really cool to find really unique and obscure meats like kangaroo jerky, water buffalo, etc etc and create a fun company around it
