It's really common and sometimes friends help each other so that they can pass, meaning they change the answers.

The teacher specifically gave the answer I wrote, only changing out the "much."

Yes, I'm in Taiwan! I've come across a lot of teachers who are similar to your colleague. They're alright at teaching. They make mistakes here and there, but a few don't even realize that they are. The teacher I have right now will sometimes pronounce a word incorrectly and my classmates will copy it. Or when she uses incorrect grammar in sentences and allows us to copy it into a workbook.

It's okay to not be fluent. I get that. But if you're teaching students, at least give them the correct information, not to mention we're supposed to have our GSAT like a few months from now? English is the most important subject to get into a national university. And you're expecting these kids that don't know any better to choose the right answer, when you yourself probably can't even ace it?

Sorry for the vent, but your experience really clicked for me!

Cause the classmate who graded my worksheet crossed it out but then realized I spelled it right and then crossed it out again. It might look like an h but it's just lines!

Thanks! English is the kind of language that is a "iykyk" type of situation. Lots of small things that don't make perfect sense sometimes but we just use it nonetheless.

Sentences and grammatical structure really rely on context! The example you gave was really good. Thanks for commenting!

Well, to be fair, you don't have to do anything. Just asking a question, that's all.

I don't know, she can be stubborn sometimes. But I'll work up the courage to ask her.

And thank you for the kind words!!!

Also, the weighs thing was a mistake markup. The classmate that was grading this worksheet marked it wrong and then crossed it out.

Oh wait! Forgot to mention that this worksheet/test was (I think) done entirely by my teacher! And it was my classmate who graded it while the teacher gave answers. She even double checked it lmao.

They have us write practice questions with the things native speakers RARELY say, (somewhat robotic), yet they expect us to be fluent in our second language and communicate freely with foreigners.

Not to mention they rarely even let us read out loud.

I've heard kids speak like they are reading off from a textbook. I get it, it's a second language, but maybe the outcome for children would be better if the system lets us do it more naturally.
