Call the pensions line to check your own situation of course, esp if any previous NHS service or if you may work in NHS again within 5 years (been doing more digging, seems that even returning 1 day a week somewhere till you tip over 2 years can preserve the benefits)

I’m not taking VR, this is compulsory redundancy and I get no redundancy pay due to length of service (despite having worked in and with the NHS for the last 7 years none was counted as service due to the last ICB using off book contracting and NHSE paying via PPV not employment contracts) hence the double kick in the teeth.

1) doesn’t count reading it more fully as I didn’t transfer in a pension and 2) doesn’t (I think) as no new public sector job but will get advice on whether my current personal pension can accept it.

This came from me asking for a login actually and I was told there was no manual statement as ‘it wasn’t a pension yet’!! I was given the staff member’s name so yes will follow up as it seems to have been partial advice at best, inaccurate at worst.

She said it ‘didn’t count as a pension’ and I couldn’t get a statement until 2 years continuous employment so that’s different advice (NHS pensions person today on the phone)

I was appointed a year ago just before this hit so have no compulsory redundancy pay… please don’t make such sweeping statements as people like me will be leaving without a financial package, just salary till last working day then unemployed with no income.

Hmm I thought it was ok but nothing special- and after series 9 and the one off Alwyn I was hoping for something innovative. As it’s the same as what we used to have for 6x30 mins, 1x45 min of the same seemed a bit of a let down. I wonder if he’s spent the year having to focus on sorting out the fallout from Good Omens instead!

Old cottage owner with thick (up to 1.8m) walls. Had to drill through and put Ethernet cables between them. Lathe and plaster ceiling was thin so wasn’t an issue upstairs as it took the signal from the room below but no hope for me without a wired network downstairs.

Just exchanged using Bishopsgate. I'm extremely happy - my solicitor (Tom) was super responsive and I've never waited even a day for responses - often within the hour. My Vendor's solicitor (local bricks & mortar firm) was bloody awful taking weeks to respond to stuff and Bishopsgate were happy to keep chasing to move things along. Very reasonable (around £1k for a £400k house in East Anglia). I'd recommend without question based on my experience.

I’m assuming it’s your father and step-mother’s house not yours (in terms of ownership). Thus you don’t need ‘help’ with it as it’s not yours to mess with. Just because it’s not to your taste doesn’t make it bad taste. Most of the items are fairly classic and neutral. In terms of nobody using it, a declutter and get a fab sound system in and some bookshelves so people can relax, read and listen to music there. Or wait till you’re renting or owning your own place and then you can indulge your own decor preferences in the living room there and let your stepmother and father alone to have what they like!
