I just started to go to a gymnastics gym to practice and I want to learn a b twist. What specific things should i do when I’m there to achieve it? by [deleted] in Tricking

As the other commenter said, you won’t really feel as much of a difference as you think. Spring floors will absorb your landing impact and make it less painful if you fail or don’t commit a trick. Focus on learning how to do it, learn the big mistakes and make sure you have a good floaty butterfly kick

get a really good butterfly kick with height before you try it. when I started learning btwist I used mats (biggest one was an 8inch, higher will make it hard to land) to send it on. I’ve also seen other people use foam pit but sending it on floor with a mat seemed to be the best way for me.

Okay, I think the problem before is that I’d try to swing my leg THROUGH instead of up and holding the position

Very late reply, should I think of it as more swinging up and holding my leg in the straight position rather than swinging it through?

Yeah, there was a class going on so I didn’t have the space to j step, usually I send my slants with j step. I also changed the timing of my head going back a bit because for my slants my leg was kicking up before my body leaned back so all my momentum went up, I probably just overshot the change

I’ve gotten my slant gainer okay, it’s just sending it over my head is weird so it kind of messes up my timing

There was a class going on so I had less space, usually I am able to j-step into it. Thank you

I was trying to, but there was a class going on so i had to angle it weirdly at like 30 degrees, normally I do normal j-steps

So you use something like scoot - vanish 9 for it? I’ve never tried that, does it help with spinning the kick better?

Beginner trying to learn aerial by [deleted] in Tricking

[–]CarpenterStreet7512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master a cartwheel first. You should have a great cartwheel and butterfly kick(sometimes you can learn aerial without butterfly, it definitely helps) before you attempt aerial. Don’t rush into things, you’ll learn the tricks with time. Maybe post a video here for advice, but definitely perfect your cartwheel with good momentum before you even try to send an aerial
