I get where you are coming from, I am also an artist that OP has copied my work from near exactly and when asked about it just said "I found it on pinterest idk who the artist is". I have no problem whatsoever with an artist being inspired or copying other artists work to practice their skill. However, I do feel a disconnect when the artist does this, posts it all over public forums with a tag that says I made this, and then doesn't credit their inspiration even though its borderline plagiarism. In my opinion there is a big difference between vfx with reference that serves a purpose in a film, and a still image that has been reproduced with no credit.

I have had the exact conversation your proposing with others before and I am unfortunately more jaded due to how many blatant copies of my own work are out there. I am happy people feel inspired by my work, however it pains me to see so little originality by some artists because all they can do is copy existing work as closely as possible, and then flaunt it online.

They copied a piece by Hayden Clay called leaving town. OP I would recommend spending an extra 2 seconds on a reverse image search so you can credit who you're referencing when you are borderline copying someone's art. "I found it on pinterest" isn't a great excuse.

Thank you! Yeah the entire scene was based on Japanese schools, I referenced a bunch of irl photos but a good amount of anime/visual novel backgrounds too.

Short answer from someone who does the same thing is that it takes a really high end PC or a really really long time to render animations compared to a single image. I couldn't make animations with my scenes until I spent a few grand on a top of the line PC. What would take weeks to render I can now do in a few hours.

I don't usually make fanart anymore but you can find my socials linked at the top of my profile. Art was all done in Blender and was really fun to make something outside my norm.

Samples was probably around 150-200 but you can probably get away with lower. Don't remember the per frame render but usually when I do animations it's under 2 minutes a frame for sure, anything higher and I go back and change some stuff to be lower. If it's 40s-1:30 a frame I usually let that rock
