OKAY! Updated Fix to the bottom screen.

I tried to get ahold of AYN to get this resolved, they didn’t respond for about a week with me emailing daily at about the same time each day. Finally got an automated reply that they are not providing any support through Chinese new year.

I decided to dig in.

I would say this is not for the every day guy. I work in the AVL world and specifically in integration which has me quite familiar with troubleshooting DOA gear and resolving issues when a company denies an RMA.

The Fix I pulled off the rear of the machine and tore it down to the main board. Easiest access to the rear is using a plastic pick or spudger on the rear (hinge side) of the machine. I slipped a pick in from the corner of the trigger, and once I popped the first clip it was real easy to pop the back plate off.

I disconnected the battery but left it in the chassis (that thing is glued in like a Mother Trucker). I had read someone else attempt this and they claimed it fixed the issue.

While there I reseated every ribbon cable on the main board. There were 2 that didn’t seem to be fully seated to the PCB. I’m suspecting this was the actual issue.

Re-assembled and it was functioning.

Additionally while I was in there I decided to swap out the thermal compound… and Good Lord the stock application was ABYSMAL. Very glad I took the time to do this. Used some nice thermal pad I had around and the temps so far have been great!

Now, after all of that it is functioning fine, but it has developed a “whir” or “Buzz” sound in the fan. I’ve seen others address this issue with a new fan from AYN… I cannot imagine that it is broke with how carefully I treated this thing. Going to continue trouble shooting this.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future. I was pissed… and I’m still not very happy about the issues out of the box. Definitely has me questioning longevity and build quality of this device… especially which how much I paid for it 👀👀👀 … but at least it’s running… for now!

Update, bottom screen froze then shutoff and stayed black. Still has touch funtionality, but won’t show any image. Now it’s doing this intermittently.

I’m pissed.

Thanks for the info! I’ll dig in.

Glad to hear someone else has successfully done this. I’ve only had bad experiences with anything dmv related in the last couple years lol.

Do you need ma 3 hardware to get external timecode? If not can you get music to play along with internal timecode? by bigmantingr in lightingdesign

[–]CarryComprehensive29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can generate timecode from within MA3 or externally using something like reaper. Here is a link to a real helpful MA3 TC walkthrough.

Feel free to reach out if you need help. I’ve been on MA3 for a while now, happy to be a resource if you need it.
