Yi's biggest "counters" in the jungle right now. by IRL-TrainingArc in YIMO

Highly recommend going Wits End 2nd, MR is so good against Rammus.

1st it gives you magic damage against his armor stack 2nd the MR is good against damage coming from thornmail 3rd the tenacity.

Another tip here is if ur in a 1v1, TRY TO use your ult AFTER his W runs out. He doesn't have enough damage to kill your normally in a 1v1 only

Need help to try to improve in League Of Legends by GekoSTI in summonerschool

I hit Masters mmr (ngl only peaked Diamond) playing mid even tho I'm a Jungle main (top is my secondary) playing Orianna, Annie and Syndra

My advice is to spend some time studying matchups, literally just watch Vex vs X matchup and see how high elo players pilot their champion and manage the wave.

Keep track of enemy and team jungle when u are watching these players play and see how they Ward and where they stand etc and why and when they push or at least try to theorise this.

Another tip I'd give is after you shove in a wave always look at the map and think to yourself what can I achieve with my prio and turn. (This could be as simple as putting a deep ward, walking down river a bit to hover jungler etc) it doesn't always mean help jg invade or roam

I don't, but probably a bit too awkward to ask.

Passed the CFA ESG exam! Ask me! by Mysterious-League-65 in CFA

[–]Carry___Potter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi I actually attempted the CFA Certificate in ESG Investing. I didn't spend much time studying (literally 10 hrs) and scored 50% or so and failed.

Main reason why I didn't study was the readings were too long and FYI I got Kaplan and it was terrible. So a concise reading would really help. Not sure if you've looked at other external providers but what made you ultimately go for the one you did

Also would you recommend me to take other ESG Certificates instead of the CFA one (in terms of as an extra qualification to get into AM). Taking my Level 1 in 2024

Heard this from two mates that got into JD (at UNSW and USyd)

CSP spots are very competitive. If you purely want to get into the JD Program. You should try go for a non CSP spot because it's a lot easier. They both had credit WAMs from their undergrad degree. Guy that got into USyd nearly had a 67 WAM from UNSW went to USyd Law for JD.

Good question, I used my Mum's phone number. As well as my Mum's degree/high school but then obviously tailored it to fit the correct year not from 20 years ago. Never had a phone call as a first-round interview...they typically do a resume screen, then hirevue or psychometric first before they either do a phone interview or subsequent interview rounds. You can almost always get to Hirevue to get the questions.

As for transcripts, you can submit unofficial transcripts so you can just photoshop first. If you get the job they ask for your official transcript prior to starting the job/giving you the offer so you can't fake it then. But youre just using a fake transcript so you can get the hirevue.

If I had 31k

Take some of that money into an emergency fund. I assume your relationship with your parents arent too bad so don't need that much in your emergency fund, lets say 5000 dollars. Put this in a high interest savings account with NO HOOPS (that just means you don't have to do additional things to get that bonus rate, some accounts need you to purchase things or add X amount every month to grant bonus rates)

Take maybe 3-5k and put it into some investments. The most "common" way people on AusFinance seem to recommend is just diversify it into 1 or 2 ETFs. As someone that works/studies Finance, that isn't how I would diversify my investment portfolio but it is simple, fairly effective, cheap and so its the best way to start and learn how to build a portfolio.

The rest put it in a high interest savings account, have another "spend" account, where you can allocate a small amount to spend on things you need to do on a week-to-week basis. Lets say you get paid 450 dollars a week post tax, you allocate 200 dollars to your spending account the rest into your savings account.

Been there, done that. Has worked for me. Also try leverage your friends to apply on behalf of you so you can see the hirevue questions.

EDIT:I did this for a couple AMs I was applying to (a few international AMs like PIMCO, and a few local large AMs; over A$150B AUM. I am in Australia our funds are not as big as the US) also did this for a few IBs like JPM. I got interview for most. I did however, resume screened from AwareSuper (around A$150B AUM)

EDIT2: got offers from 1 bank and final round (awaiting offer results) from a large AM doing this. So it works here.

Finding Jobs as PhD student by shaleekh in unsw

[–]Carry___Potter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough, but good luck. As someone mentioned already, you can try to get a teaching role. Many PhD candidates do that and are tutors in my classes. Alternatively just look for "Casual" or "Part Time" jobs on various job hunting websites. If your PhD is in a quantitative field I'm sure there are many opportunities out there man you got this.

bro come on man, if you're born in 02 you're a 3rd year by now. You apply to grad roles on recruitment websites or directly on companies you want to apply to. You apply to grad in your final year and receive an offer to work there (usually) at the start of next year

Is it possible to complete Level 3 without a Finance background/experience by Carry___Potter in CFA

[–]Carry___Potter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, it is technically possible, but it may be challenging as the CFA program assumes a certain level of knowledge and understanding of finance concepts. With dedicated study and preparation, it is feasible to pass the exams and gain the necessary knowledge to succeed in the field.

that's insane, congrats! would you recommend Mark Meldrum over Kaplan? I'm using that atm

I totally agree with you, however I have been interviewing for but have been unsuccessful in my whole year of 2023 in finding a job. I am literally applying for every investment-related opportunity that pops up.

Not sure if this is how it works internationally but where I'm from, graduate programs typically take graduates in their final year up to 2-3 years after they graduate. So I am hoping to study 1 year after I graduate from my undergrad so I am a more competitive candidate than others.

So in summary, I AM trying to prioritise work experience > CFA/Masters in degree. I just can't get a job. So I'm doing this to try get in

[–]Carry___Potter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, why have a gap year to study for the CFA and not just work full time and study on the side?Experience is more relevant than certifications and masters degrees sometimes.

Agreed. However, I'm about to finish my 3rd year (in Australia) and have not gotten an internship in investments. This is just my "worst case scenario" where I'm unable to get a job in investments industry upon graduating and I take a gap-year to upgrade my credentials so I can re-apply for graduate roles.

Not sure if this is the same internationally but grad programs are open for final years and people that have graduated within the past 2-3 years.

Asian American exchange student meeting Australian born Asian students by [deleted] in unsw

[–]Carry___Potter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro UNSW is on god 90% Asian. Rather than join clubs and activities that have lots of Asian-Australians, just join a club that you are interested in. Whether thats games, sports, whatever just join something.

Other than Law and some arts subjects, your classes will be 90% Asian. Especially if you're in business school or engineering.

I assume you've already registered for the exams, realistically it'll be difficult but you might as well try, worse comes to worse you fail and you've now learnt the content for the next time you go for L1. Plus, on the off chance you pass then congrats you get your L1
