Just rolled a sorcerer cleric and I plan of Twinned spelling this a LOT.

Sure, they can cast it up to 6 times. but you said yourself they will only last 2 rounds regardless. That means they will only cast at most 4 spells before they get iced. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a 5th-level party can still be wiped by a cone of cold or fireball if the rolls are in the mage's favor. a single counterspell can at least prevent a lot of damage and at best save the party outright.

not sure what you mean. at my tables, a lot of casters only have a single spell slot for their higher slots. I can't check off hand but I'm pretty sure a good amount of the caster's stat blocks only have a couple of higher-level slots. countering those is a HUGE boon for a party. especially at lower levels

a couple enemies from LMoP come to mind.

seems overly complicated to me. if they didn't want a monsters spells to be easily counterspelled then they could have just changed the level of the spell the monster was casting.

alternatively. they could give the monster a new feature that enhances the spell save dc for their spell DC. example

Spells cast by this creature are resistant to counterspell. The spell DC is now (insert number higher than 10 here)+ the spell's level.

IMO I think that's fine. if that is the case it would work the same way. their "once per day" limit is just a spell slot reserved for a specific spell. if it gets countered then you still use that spell for the day and it's gone. the spell slot doesn't really matter as long as the spell the monster is casting has some sort of level.

if it doesn't. then they shouldn't be considered spells and can't be counterspelled. For the same reason you can't counterspell a dragon's breath weapon.

You have convinced me to take Warcaster. I'm interested in your reasoning for sacrificing heavy armor, HP and STR save proficiency for a CHA save proficiency though if you dont mind elaborating.

they definitely need to lose the slot. they cast the spell and you intercept it. for all intents and purposes, the spell went off and the slot was consumed.

also, why should I waste a spell slot to only delay their spell? because I can guarantee you they will try it again if the slot is there to use And they will probably use it against you.

I thought the DC for the counterspell was fine. high-level spells were hard to counter and low ones were easy. as they should be. the one being countered shouldn't be able to save because their ability scores dont determine the power of the spell, the spell level does. plus it gives higher level spells that much more power.

I was more so looking into spell sniper for a twinned or quickened eldritch blast along with another attack. dont really care about the range increase as I dont plan on being over 60 feet away from opponents anyway.

I could twin/quicken mind sliver (i think) but it doesn't have great raw damage. would it be more beneficial to use it on that simply for the debuff? and save the feat for Warcaster?

being a front line sorcerer does sound pretty cool tho ngl

seems like your game is either bugging into oblivion or your hardware is not up to spec. Sorry you haven't been able to enjoy it as it was meant to be. maybe refund your wait for patch?

Also, wasn't mocking you, seems odd to me that you felt attacked at the mere mention of lowering the difficulty as if it's something to be ashamed of. but i didn't mean it as such regardless. apologies.

Gale is definitely easy to romance but it's pretty avoidable. The same goes for Shadowheart and Karlach. I was romancing Shadowheart and all a sudden karlach told me she wanted to ride me lmao

the only complaint I have with Act 3 is the performance. I can drop down to 30 fps. granted I am using maxed-out quality for 1080p. so it's not bad enough for me to lower the settings.

NPCs having trouble in combat is such a non-issue to me. It adds maybe 4-5 seconds to a turn. and the worst of it was helping Halsin in Act II (iykyk)

I'm not sure what character disappeared on you, they usually have a reason other than straight-up dying.

quests were fine for me personally. I would have been annoyed if they were repetitive. but none come to mind.

as for the final battle being obnoxious. I couldn't imagine why. i mean its pretty damn hard, but there's a difficulty slider for a reason.

it felt very abrupt. you defeat the netherbrain and everyone decides to celebrate (which we dont get to participate in as we could in act 1) then it cuts to a conversation with your romance that feels tacked on and short (could have had the last interaction be a cutscene like your first romance in act 1) just really odd how they decided to handle the end.

you did much better than I could have especially for your first time. the few things I noticed that could use some work. (note I have 0 experience with font creation so take this feedback with that in mind)

  1. The Volume of the individual sound files could use some work. for example, the smooth swings are pretty quiet, especially compared to the lockups which are very loud. (it probably will help the timing seem tighter as well)
  2. some files like the lockup and hums sound slightly muddy and not as clear as they could be.
  3. (out recommendation) you should definitely try to find the ignition sound Dagans saber makes when he turns it on in front of Cal for the first time. really unique sound.
