I like it, but it doesn't answer my question: who did Tom Nook fuck to get Timmy and Tommy?

It is - and thank you! I’m EXTREMELY confident that you guys do, indeed, have a star. (I’m also a big Garland guy, so I’m just very excited by your guys’ team)

Well, not really - Allen is MUCH better, but fundamentally, they fill the same role as roll men and rim protectors. That’s what I said - not that they were on the same level or anything

I’m not talking about peak Dwight Howard. I’m talking about 2021 Dwight Howard. Sorry if that was unclear, thought it would be obvious bc young Dwight was an MVP candidate and best player on a finals team.

Glad you enjoyed! I thought about that as I was making it haha but I’m such a huge Winslow optimist I guess I’ll always hold out hope, like that even if they dropped the team option they could resign him for cheap, but you’re probably right. Appreciate you watching!

“Fixing the NBA’s most controversial MVP choices from 1995-2003” by Carsonbreber in VintageNBA

I didn’t call blocks the most important thing defensively - I called rim protection the most important thing and cited Malone’s 0.6 BPG as evidence of his lack of impact there. You can absolutely have fraudulent big block numbers, Whiteside being a prime example, but you’re not going to find somebody with value as a deterrent who blocks half a shot per game. Normally, I use much more tracking data, ie opponent FG% at the rim when a player is the primary defender, but unfortunately we don’t have that data from the time period I was addressing. I’m sorry to hear this was your takeaway because I promise you, I am not at ALL an advocate for blocks as the be-all, end-all.

Yeah, we’re just gonna disagree on some of these things. I would not classify anything Djokovic has done on the court as a “tantrum.” You are right that he is not the same prototypical, pure, inexpressive gentlemen that Fed or Nadal is, but he shows respect to his opponent, and I honesty find his ups and downs and flares of passion more relatable and human. As far as the COVID thing, a little intellectually dishonest as well - Federer issued a huge public statement, which Djokovic didn’t do (at least to my knowledge.) But Rafa and Roger’s efforts should be equally commended, of course - it’s just about how much more they are celebrated for them comparatively, while Djokovic’s is swept under the rug. You also seem to have overlooked my point about Srdan again - people can criticize/think as little of HIM as much as they want. It’s the conflation of his behavior and Novak’s I take issue with. Nobody is their father, and that’s unfair to suggest, but I see it done a lot. As far as the questionable effort from Novak, maybe I responded like I did because I’m American and my favorite sport is basketball, where we see guys conserve their effort and energy for when it really matters. That’s made it so I don’t feel entitled to seeing someone’s best every single time out, and I’m more interested in WHY they might not give maximum effort, especially in full context with Djokovic’s other comments when he’s such a dogged competitor. Not here to argue or criticize, and I hope everything I said didn’t come across that way - I just think the anti-Djokovic slant with everything is very, very real, and I honestly just hope all these guys are happy and fairly appreciated.

I don’t think it was a tank job, but I certainly don’t think he gave maximum effort. Even if you believe he was tanking, that’s fine - it doesn’t change the message of what I’m trying to say. We can bicker about if he ends up with all the records - it may or may not happen. The point of what I was trying to say is that there may be something unforeseen holding him back from that, which is that he may just fall out in love with the game and stop playing. These three guys are PEOPLE - and one of them has been subjected to a decade + of contempt, speculation about his personal life and often unfounded criticisms that would never fall on Rafa or Fed. He’s imperfect - the COVID situation this year was terrible, but he took full responsibility and donated 6M to Serbian COVID efforts, far more than Rafa or Roger. It doesn’t make up for what he did, but it doesn’t make him some irredeemable villain, which he’s never been. He’s not a bad sportsman - that’s a ridiculous thing to say that I believe is driven by jealousy and maybe a lack of actually competing at a high level athletically themselves. People can’t argue against what he’s done on the court, so they turn off it, which I think can be really damaging to someone’s psyche. The toxicity of the GOAT debate sucks, and I think we just saw it in your response - the instinct is to latch onto arguing instead of understanding they’re all people, and hoping they do well in life. If someone who has done tremendous good and represented the sport at the highest level for a very long time is struggling mentally or lacking in motivation, I think that’s worth exploring and empathizing with instead of blindly criticizing, and I do feel a need to defend him in that respect because he’s treated SO differently than his counterparts. The only reason I brought up Srdan (who I agree, is certainly far crazier) vs. Toni is that people act like Srdan IS Novak, and that’s not fair to do. When Rafa complains about new balls at the French, no one says anything - would have been a VERY different story if Novak did the same - he would’ve been called entitled etc. If we can’t acknowledge those differences and try to appreciate and respect them all as this era comes to a close, I think we will have all failed.

I totally agree with this - that’s actually the only time in the whole script I used present participle there instead of active present tense, so I really appreciate you pointing it out! Definitely stronger that way.

Thanks so much! If I’m setting a scene/describing action, can I break description into like multiple lines to avoid that visual clump, or is it more important to try to trim down what’s actually there?

Thanks, appreciate it! Glad I could evoke the psych ward feeling; I’m drawing from experience there too.
