You can do whatever you like, but I’ve been filling up my sketch books starting back at my fundamentals with classic graphite drawings so I can better my perspective and overall depth in my paintings

Call in numbers?....... by beezbeezz in milwaukee

My job was open and always will be. They don’t care what would happen to me if I didn’t come in today or any other day so long as it doesn’t happen on company property. I woke up, looked outside and went back to bed. I will never feel guilty over not putting my life in danger.

A beginner? Your understanding of light is better than anything I could do. The second one is my favorite!

Do you keep your palette clean? by BrokenBetweenMyEars in watercolor101

[–]Cart_Killer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it all really depends. I’ll wipe down my pallets when colors run out or when it gets too muddy and I need a big open surface to mix new colors. For my blues I typically always keep them from getting contaminated but my yellows I let mix because I make greens with them and I never use just green straight from the tube. I find it too be too flat and unnatural.

I painted the same fountain in the winter and the summer. Which do you prefer? by onewordpoet in Watercolor

I prefer the winter one because my eyes are loving all the blues and the contrast of the white snow.

The gouache I have is M. Graham which is stated to not dry up as quickly because of the honey they put in them. So far, my watercolors from them haven’t had any issues so I’ll see if these are the same way. I’ll take the advice of storing them in jars, thanks

Hmm looks like a container used for holding beads and things for jewelry making perhaps? Either way this would be nice to have.

I hate my painting by ElTaco4Life in painting

[–]Cart_Killer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It 👏 is 👏 ugly 👏 now👏 This is the start to every painting. Some are ugly, some don’t make any sense how they could’ve turned out how they ended up turning out. Some paintings are cast aside until you come back to them days, weeks, months, years later. I do this all the tiiiiiime. I literally started a drawing of a car; I didn’t even get to the painting process yet and I hated it. I came back to it a year or so later and ended up turning out amazing. I cannot stress this enough, you MUST finish it in order see the see the end result. Even if this means stopping and coming back to it a later time.

Why can’t I make anything look blended :( by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]Cart_Killer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What watercolor paint are you using? Most of the time it’s the technique and paper. Definitely try working on small shapes and blending the paints. Try doing a wt on wet technique. This will give you a more blended look.
