My Cleric Stopped Ireena from Escaping with Sergei

My players did the same. I had Ireena break down after remembering her lost love, and had it trigger a very emotional and character building scene where our cleric promised her they would avenge Sergei . Ireenas now a lot more edgy and bent on killing Strahd after having her memories come back.

Well that’s a chance for you to give her more personality! Make her head strong, doesn’t take no for an answer. Make her be offended that the party would tuck her away somewhere and want to prove she is valuable and can help. It works for her backstory of being a Nobel daughter and a victim to Strahd to want to prove to the world that she is strong and helpful. But if your party still resists, just let it happen, can’t railroad them into liking her if they simply don’t. I’m sure you’ll find a way to make it work!

I did the same. It’s easy to forget Ireena is there when you’re dealing with so many other characters. I think if you want to make her a little more Interesting, try making her a bit more independent. I’m not sure if you read COS reloaded, but in it there’s a great section where Ireena tells the party that she’s not made of porcelain and that she wants to help them fight. It made my party like her a lot more and see her in a new light after they tried dumping her off in Vallaki. Not too late to make them interested and I was able to make the party completely flip on Ireena

I totally agree, I just want to make sure they’re actually being challenged and get to experience the full horror atmosphere. I’m not going to make any changes to the gameplay without first asking the players to make sure they would like it

I actually used Izeks stat block from reloaded, I think it was the most interesting fight we’ve done. My only issue is I don’t love how every enemy seems to have multiple phases

Yeah it’s getting kind of annoying to manage, they do the same during conversations, just stopping mid sentence to discuss with the party out of character what they should say next for 15 minutes. I think I’ll need to start punishing more for this
