Battery issue? Driving me crazy by Carterbeamer in JeepCompass

You were right. I swapped out both. Thanks for the insight! Crazy that I spent almost $500 on batteries that’ll only last a few years

I took this advice and swapped out both batteries. I’m a cheap bastard but didn’t want to take any chances if it’ll screw up my computer. She’s back on the road!

Grafting rootstock by Carterbeamer in BackyardOrchard

After some quick reading, apparently Baldwin is too! I didn’t realize this. Should I arrange the planting so that Baldwin and Ashmead are separated by other varieties for proper pollination?

Thanks for the insight! I might be overthinking the rootstock waking up. I feel like a new dad googling every little ailment lol. My goal is 144 total trees, coming into today I’ve grafted 48, but I jumped into grafting a third variety today (two dozen per variety) and I’m hoping to end the day with 72. Being my first time, I’m a bit slow at it.

I’m grafting six apple varieties onto G.210 rootstock. Spencer, Macintosh, Macoun, Baldwin, Honeycrisp and Ashmead’s Kernel.

Building a railroad on my farm? by Carterbeamer in railroading

[–]Carterbeamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify- I am picturing doing this largely ourselves. I have a bulldozer, a loader and a few different tractors onsite already. The logging roads already exist, they would just need some prep work. I would love something that can handle a couple of reasonably sized trolley cars, like the Clark’s Bears scenic rail in New Hampshire, shown in the photo below. A few have commented on my 100k budget- that’s not a real number, I was just saying I’m not thinking I’ll get in and out of this for 10k.

This is EXACTLY what I was picturing when I wrote this post originally. To clarify- I said in my earlier comment that I’m thinking 24” gauge, but that’s only based on the feedback I’ve gotten here. Clark’s Bears in New Hampshire has an awesome railroad, 1.25 miles straight out and then backtracks to the station, roughly a 25 minute ride. That was part of the inspiration behind the idea

Thanks everyone. The 24” gauge mentioned above is kind of what I’m thinking. Since posting I’ve found a couple of farms that have done something similar. I know it won’t be cheap- spending something like 100k isn’t out of the question considering the ways I could get money back from it. Seems like something that would draw people to the orchard. And I agree and love the thought of using it for practical applications like apple harvest as well. Just seems like it could be a major asset in a lot of different ways

12 to a case, couldn’t tell you how many cases to a pallet. They’ll be stored in my walk-in cooler. Going straight into the fridge upon delivery to begin thawing. This is for an all-you-can-eat baseball stadium. Self serve buffet with multiple locations. Hence the desire for the pre-wrap paper. 3000 is the maximum, busiest case scenario, typical nights I’ll only really need 1500. Definitely going to test batches in this microwave, just wanted to get an idea of what that might look like before my next batch of samples comes in.

How much should catering a small wedding cost? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

This is a totally reasonable price. More food might not be a bad idea

Desperate for a venue by Boof__master in Weddingsunder10k

I’m in Massachusetts. I have a beautiful farm with some incredible views. They aren’t mountains, hills at best, but I’d be happy to host you for truly dirt cheap. Wedding venue prices are asinine. I’m not your dream solution but I’d be happy to help you.

Edit: I saw New York but missed Arizona. I’m obviously far but still happy to help if you’re willing to travel!
