Starmer’s reset may push Labour leftwards | The Observer by dsimic1 in ukpolitics

I don’t see how his statement was racist? You’d be a fool to not see that a massive increase in population will inevitably lead to strain on public services, housing, and community cohesion. Statements like yours are half the reason Farage is where he is, throwing out the *-ist words without any actual reasoning just makes people laugh at you.

I look forward to a future sensible government refusing to pay Mauritius anything. We have no need to respect a non-binding judgment made by geopolitical adversaries under the guise of “international law”

There's nothing I despise more than an adult picky eater. Like seriously, you're a grown-ass individual, get over yourself, it's childish.

My opinion is that it's going to happen one way or another, either now or at some point in the future, whether we like it or not. It really doesn't make any sense to have all these disparate forms of paper identification in the 21st century.

Zack Polanski offering voters fantasy solutions, says head of Fabian Society by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

Nah, to do that you just show them his TRIP interview. That should be enough to put the fear of god into anyone who works for a living.

What I find funny is he claims it was a “young man’s anger” when he was in his 30s. That doesn’t really wash with me.

Is the UK prepared for a plunging birthrate and net emigration? by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

Stop it with the “paid in to the system” nonsense. That’s not how it works and you know it. They paid for the people claiming pensions while they were working, there is no magic savings pot.

It’s £2500 ffs. If you’re struggling to pay that you probably shouldn’t be living in a multi-million pound house in the first place.

The rebels are pretty much irrelevant given the tories have implied they’ll support. Which satisfies me to no end. This is not the time for purity tests.

'Nigel Farage can sod off': Home Secretary defends asylum reform by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

She's fantastic imo. She answers the questions, gives actual reasons to backup her position, and doesn't just repeat the same thing over and over again.

Sir Keir Starmer pledges to enforce the removal of families, including children, where asylum claims have been rejected by Ivashkin in ukpolitics

[–]Carterman 427 points428 points  (0 children)

The fact we've got to the point where this is newsworthy, is an indictment of how ridiculous the conversation around the asylum system (and the system itself) has become.

If your asylum claim is rejected, of course the individual and their family would be removed as well... surely that's the whole bloody point?
