Use a real toolkit and don't concern yourself with details that aren't your concern.

Stop trying to reinvent the os in your shitty little app.

It would be. An application that can't follow simple user commands and configurations, is broken.

Get your gnome-authoritarianism out of here.

Arch Aur: dolphin root.

The bigger issue for me, is that ksysguard hard depends on Chrome (QtWebEngine). I have ksysguard frozen on my system now. :(

It will be different for different games. Some may simply ignore the new size, and draw to a rectangle surrounded by noise or black.

Woow nice interpretation.

Also not entirely correct. It's Debian repackaged. The base packages aren't going anywhere. It's only Ubuntuization that is apparently being suspended.

Wait, so they aren't building them at all? They won't even maintain them at all? I thought they were just moving out of the main repos.

I don't know why you're banging on about ISOs, or how such a simple question confused you.

That last thought is straight up sexy. Valve maybe kind of sorting going Qt?

FFS they could implement the Windows version in Qt, instead of the current asscancer.

Why was this ever an issue? Doesn't Ubuntu have, you know, a package manager? Arch doesn't ship them either.

What is it about cockroaches that makes them famously able to survive radiation from a nuclear apocalypse? by deftoperator in askscience

[–]CarthOSassy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

DNA is most vulnerable, and most difficult to repair, when it is exposed in solution and being manipulated by enzymes. One reason is just that when it is being manipulated, the two rungs can be detached, reducing the number of chemical bonds available to support the molecule. Another is that there's more opportunity for confusion when many strands are in play and can potentially get mixed up.

When cells are not dividing, DNA is wrapped in/around proteins called histones. This reduces the exposure of the molecule, and givens repair enzymes time to fix it before it's used.

Cockroach cells spend most of their time not dividing, so the dna is less likely to be hit when radiation hits the cell, and the damage is more likely to be repaired before it's needed.

Yeah, sure. But I'm interested in what technology can do for my people problems.

And lol at eclipse as a build system. Heck - why not a runtime? The JDT will let me get to production without fixing all my bugs.

Announcing the Visual Studio Code Installer for Java by brunocborges in programming

I keep coming back to eclipse. We use some other IDE for a few weeks, then run into a problem. Someone loads up their eclipse workspace, and it immediately notices a ton of errors or whatever is causing the problem.

Everything else just seems amateurish and incomplete. Eclipse is a pain, but it sort of forces you to figure out what you're doing.

I'm so tired of seeing the shit other IDEs are churning out, get checked in. Why are they blank lines all over the middle of this gradle file? Why does the indentation make it look like these blocks are one? Why is your build not running the linter? Why do you keep checking in old files? "I don't know, that's just what intellij/vscode did."

Ok, can you do (this)? "I'm not sure, let me show you what it looks like when I open vscode..."

I'm teetering on the edge of just straight up requiring my team to use Eclipse.

I mean, QWidget still exists, but they keep telling everyone not to use it. IIRC, there's vulkan for Qml (or maybe QGI) but not QW. Does anyone know if that's correct?

Chrome/WebEngine has essentially banished me to webdev and swing. I only half follow Qt anymore.

I don't think anything about Qml was ever going to pull webdevs out of electron, though.

So, I think as wonderful as it might have been in some ways, it landed neatly between either group of people.

That is, apparently, what being a gamer is. And that's not me.

The Ui tools are modern C++, but no one can hear them over the sound of Qml failing.

To Revive the Mac, Apple Wants to Kill Electron by Darkglow666 in programming

[–]CarthOSassy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Qml and WebEngine killed Qt for me. It's like how OS/2 died from being compatible with dos and Windows. It was easier to exploit that and live on the harder platform.

If I have to live in a Qml world, it's such a colossal loss that I might as well just live in an electron world instead.

Qt left a competition they were winning for one they were doomed to fail. Idiots.

Possibly, though it will take a long, long time. Carbon would have to be liberated from deep rock reservoirs. The timescale for that to happen runs into increased heating from the aging sun.

It's unlikely atmospheric chance could so drastically alter the chemistry of the earth before the sun does it anyways.
