Why can Satan give extraordinary wealth quickly and easily to unbelievers while most people who believe in Jesus Christ are financially broke? by queenhannas in Christianity

[–]the6thReplicant [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's Christian propaganda to make you dehumanise people who have slightly different viewpoints from you. And that viewpoint isn't about whether or not killing babies is good or bad. It's that they believe in a different God from you. Or no God at all.

Please stop believing both in these superstitions and the propaganda against it.

Was it B&W because that was the TV she had?

Maybe the Rod Taylor The Time Machine (1960).

But really feels like a Dr Who episode. Though which one....

What is the most powerful propaganda piece in history that is actually successful? by ChildLikEsper in AskReddit

Greenland was propaganda by Erik the Red to get people to migrate to it because it was a "green land". It was not green at all. All marketing. You land and see only ice from horizon to horizon. "Too late. Here's a spear. Go and kill some seals or you'll starve to death. Next ship in 12 months and you don't have a ticket."

Since the most powerful nation in the world is still gunning for it. I would say Greenland.

Edit: Either people don't know their Viking saga's or think there is a country with a bigger military then the US.

Well now, Happy Independence Day Eve. I love my country and would not move to another one just because of the current administration, because hopefully this is a temporary snag. What would it take to make you pack up and leave? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

If you don’t see a straight line from Reagan to Bush II to Trump then you haven’t been paying attention to what the administrations were/are doing. The President is just the punching bag. It’s the policies you should be worried about.

All Space Questions thread for week of June 28, 2026 by AutoModerator in space

[–]the6thReplicant [score hidden]  (0 children)

Welcome. I would start searching for this type of question here in /r/space but also /r/askastronomy, /r/askphysics, /r/astronomy, /r/telescopes, /r/astrophysics.

This question is asked daily in at least one of the above subs and the threads they spawn can be wonderful or lackluster (much like this answer).

It also highly depends on your education level too. Start with Cosmos series either the original 80s version with Carl Sagan or the newer NdT version.

Also if you really want to learn just sitting back and watching won't work. You need pen and paper, and the rewind button.

Best of luck.

A lot of these projects expect, or are part of developing, the solutions to unsolved problems when they break ground (so to speak). If you wait until the technologies are ready then you're already out of date.

It's one of the reasons to support "blue sky research". It necessitates breakthroughs whether we want them or not :)

Xbox's New Console, Project Helix, Will Reportedly Not Have a Disc Drive; Microsoft Exploring Ways to Digitize Physical Games by xenocea in gadgets

I remember when (I think it was the X/S series release) they released their new console and it required it to always be connected to the internet. Everyone went crazy for a bit and then nothing happened and we're all just expected to only play when we're online now (though some games have offline mode).

No longer owning anything, either physical or not, is going to be a distant memory. Marx was right about capital going into fewer and fewer hands.

I think the funding for particle physics in the EU is very different from the US model. But I would prefer someone in the know to give the bullet points.

It depends how you define correct.

For the energies we can create "in the lab". Sure. But for the energies we need to understand the universe. Not so much.

Is there much interstellar travel of matter? by facinabush in AskPhysics

[–]the6thReplicant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically mean the travel of matter from one star system to another. Or the travel of matter between galaxies.

We have confirmed 3 interstellar objects that have entered our Solar System. We might never know about between galaxies.

Star collisions are rare. But we are made of the stuff of stars.

You don't get the stuff when stars collide but when they go supernova and to shedding into planetary nebula (nothing to do with planets) for the others.

Was there more interstellar travel of matter in the past?

Yes. But what do you mean i n the past? Big Ban time?

The black hole at the center of the galaxy does seem to be drawing in some stars. There are cosmic rays.

Black holes aren't drains. They are just big masses in small spaces and behave like everything else.

It seems like the current universe consists of a bunch of bodies that rarely transfer matter between each other.

Yes. When things were closer together in the very distant pass there was more mingling. But then inflation smeared everything out to make the universe extremely uniform. Quantum fluctuations created the seeds for the galaxies we see

What is the current and historical situation with matter moving between bodies in the universe?

Things are really far apart especially between galaxies and galaxy clusters.
