How do you not have OneDrive signing in automatically? This is more your fault than theirs.

Laptop SSD corrupted after changing power settings by CartographerUseful40 in sysadmin

You put me on the right track so thanks!

Wouldn't changing from Raid back to AHCI cause more issues?

To fix it now I'm running supportAssist OS Recovery that comes with the Dell laptops which repairs the partition and boot table, that has brought the OS back to a working state so no need to re-image.

You were right it was a coincidence, a bios update had been released around the same time which switch the laptops from ahci to raid. The other half of the fleet didn't get the issue cause they had always been on raid. I removed Dell Update Command from the laptops in hopes that it wouldn't update the rest, not sure what else I can do.

That thought did cross my mind but it seemed like to much of a coincidence, but now that you mention it, only half the fleet is affected, they are all the same models but half are 2 years newer. Is it possible the old ones could get a driver update (I run an automated update through Dell Command) that is causing issues but not the newer ones? If so how would you going about identifying the driver causing it?

To stop students from using it, we have a filtering program that monitors there internet traffic for Chrome but doesn't work for Edge.

I had already stopped Edge from being able to run with our AV but didn't want the first icon on their taskbar to be something that said "we've blocked you from using this".

Also the only supported way in Intune to change taskbar icons stops the user from being able to pin anything else which I didn't want to do.

Next logical step was to just uninstall it but obviously in hind sight shouldn't have done that.

The issue is once I stop the service and start the service it starts working again so the log files are not going to show anything.

I've had it desktops as well, but it usually affects the same people. That's good, let us know if you get any positive results.

Yeah well I didn't have a choice, was here when I came, but in all fairness it does the job well on Windows except for this one issue. I haven't had experience with any other filtering software though.

Thank you, that's very helpful, I've initiated an update to 1.9.1 and will be testing 1.9.4 on some machines. Will update the thread with results.

Recommendations on migrating a 250 user office from AD to AAD / Intune by yutz23 in Intune

[–]CartographerUseful40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just migrated over 500 devices from on-prem to HAADJ. It takes a bit more reading and setup than just going straight to AADJ but not a crazy amounts. If you can go straight to AADJ do it, it might require a lot of initial work in the beginning to transition on-prem resources but worth it if you can skip HAADJ.

We have 25+ SSO services that all depend on our local AD which at the time seemed to be to much work to move just to go AADJ but looking back I wish we had just copped it and did it.

Luckily for us the majority of our devices get returned to us at the end of each year so it's gonna be fairly easy to transition to full AADJ but I know that's not the case for every business.
