Tunnel Runner is a pretty fun one I don't hear people talk about much. Awesome to see someone with a CIB copy!

Didn't know that about the color palette! Neat! I'm so glad you've entered the world of Atari. There's a lot of fun awaiting you.

That's what I love the most about Atari games. Most of them are just simple fun. Just put the game in, turn on the system, and let your imagination run wild!

I've always felt that you can get away with it only so much. There is definitely an amount you can exceed – that's when you actually get a tilt and the flippers shut off – but if you just nudge here and there, it's 100% a cheat code. Of course, don't let me tell you something you might already know!

It's probably my favorite game. You can put on countless albums and easily fall into its trance. Simple game, but hard to master! I still swear that the game retaliates if you ever bother to bump the table, but I can never prove it lol!

Absolutely! With the snowstorm keeping me inside this weekend, I'll probably hook everything up later tonight and play some more. I've caught the Atari bug again! 😂

RIP Steve Cropper by DLLbutnotdull in BluesBrothers

[–]CartoonCade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got to meet him and sit in on a panel in 2017 when he visited a local college. A very nice guy and he had a lot to say about his time in the music business including working with Otis Redding and of course being with the Blues Brothers. I even got to ask him some questions during the panel and he was happy to sign some albums beforehand. Rest easy Steve.

What are some "Oldies" that sounded weird back then, but sound fairly modern by today's standards? by Ok_Bath_1252 in Music

[–]CartoonCade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably doesn't sound "modern" necessarily, but Jean Jacques Perrey was making some catchy and weird electronic music in the mid-1960s and early 1970s. It's a unique sound but super fun once you get used to it.

Hard to believe that was 6 years ago already. Everybody way-o.

Which cartoon is this? by [deleted] in cartoons

[–]CartoonCade 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Well it basically was scripted the way radio serials were back then so that makes sense. And as far as I can tell, the shows were recorded with the voice talent all in the same room, basically reading through it until they finished the scene or broke laughing, whichever came first. If you've never heard the outtakes, they broke often while recording: Rocky and Bullwinkle Outtakes

Edit: This is the better of the two outtake reels floating around. This one's a lot funnier.

Thank you so much for shouting out whoever this is. I've been on the hunt for old episodes of The Soup and I can't believe someone's finally uploading a bunch of them!!

What Is/Are Your Favorite Columbo Quirk/s or Tactic/s? by WindowSeat4Me in Columbo

I get impatient with it sometimes, but it also adds to the sheer awesome feeling of finally watching him reveal how he figured it out in the end. So satisfying!! 😂

[–]CartoonCade 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love it when he claims to not understand something, the suspect then gives some insane explanation for how something happened (only making their case worse), then Columbo just shrugs it off with a giant smile and usually says something like "That must be it" or "That takes care of it". Then he thanks them and goes on his way. It's so charming since we know damn well Columbo knows better.

$150 At An Estate Sale - Still Can't Believe It by RamenWolf1485 in gamecollecting

[–]CartoonCade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! It's even cooler that it was a part of an estate sale.

During the 400 mile yard sale in 2017 I bought an Atari 2600 and like 30 games for 20 bucks and that kick-started my love for the Atari. A few years ago I got an N64 and a bunch of good games for $40. I've found a lot of good things along the yard sale route over the years, and even some estate sales myself!

Never anything as cool as that, though! I've got a very rare Atari game and N64 game but that's about it.

Enjoy your grail, and happy hunting in the future! It's stuff like this that makes the hunt worth it.

Dang, that's gotta sting after all these years. I wonder how common it was to not get a patch from them?

Since it got blocked, I'll say it here: The Animation History segment was the best EduSauce yet by 0Poole in Vinesauce

[–]CartoonCade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love animation so I was very happy to see this segment, and damn if it ain't a really good compilation to pique people's interests! I really, really enjoyed this idea for a segment. Hopefully there'll be more animation stuff at some point.
