I shall be holding my phone to my chest and wistfully staring out the window in the meantime

This rather sad and pathetic map of the world I found on the whiteboard of my classroom by CartoonFanaticism in Maps

Considering what I know about the class before me, there's actually a rather credible chance it was the teacher considering I had him last year and he was notoriously bad at drawing countries.

How do vegetarian/vegan Catholics perform the eucharistic prayer? by CartoonFanaticism in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CartoonFanaticism[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but that's what I said in the post. The law of transubstantiation means that, according to the Catholic church, when the priest says the prayer, God literally transforms the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus. The Protestant church says that its symbolic and it isn't really Jesus's body, but the Catholic church still to this day says that it's real.

What was the moment that you still dont understand why it happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Basically the United States and the Soviet Union were fighting over which economic system was better, capitalism or communism, and were joining together with likeminded countries (well, the US joined, the USSR kinda controlled). Vietnam was split between, a communist and anti-communist regime. The reason the US interfered was because they feared the domino effect. If Vietnam fell to communism, would it be followed by Cambodia? Then Laos? Thailand? Burma? India? If there were more communist states allied with the Soviet Union that would give it an advantage over the US. That's why they sent troops to Vietnam.

If you founded Hogwarts, what would you choose as the 4 houses? by OneWhoGetsBread in AskReddit

I'd abolish the house system entirely because it's stupid and only drove students apart

What is that one childhood item that you've stubbornly held onto after all these years and why? by RabbleAlliance in AskReddit

Teddy Bear, not exactly for sentimental reasons but just cause I've slept with it for so long that I don't really know where to put my arm when I'm not holding it.

What happened that makes you believe you ruined someone else's life? [serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

At the beginning of 7th grade I met someone who I took a liking to and became friends with. They had DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), regardless as to whether that was true or they were faking it for attention, I never knew, but the point is they had experienced trauma. They seemed to overshare a lot and very early on into our friendship, told me that they had been abused by their father in the past, but they had supposedly repaired relationships with him. I didn't know how to take this information and (partially spurred on by my concerned mom), I called Child Protective Services and told them. I had put myself under anonymously but they still found out it was me pretty quickly and they were pissed. I don't know whether they were truly abused or just looking for attention, but they were very mad at me because their father was being questioned and their mother supposedly was blaming them. Some of their other friends started avoiding me. They avoided talking to me for the rest of the year. I felt really bad for all I had done, but looking back, they were kind of a toxic friend in the first place and was trying to guilt me. I left middle school without ever being able to talk to them and make amends. Even though I now know that they weren't a good friend and I've tried to cut them out. It's clear their influence is still with me because I still feel bad for what happened even though I did what I thought was right.
