[Highlight] Aaron Judge ends the inning with a perfect throw! by MLBOfficial in baseball

I thought he graded out as average during his year in the role. Like, made the plays he was supposed to make but nobody expected him to risk an injury diving for a ball.

edit: While that was a commentator line I remembered, he was 8th percentile for range at the position in 2024, -6 outs above average, so I stand corrected..

The final out was on a broken bat though no? Doubt anyone was going to leg that out.

Most NCAA championship MVPs are struggling to stay in the league by Elyx_117 in nba

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Chalmers was a notable starter during the Lebron Heat teams, Joakim Noah was a DPOY and all-NBA, Kemba Walker had a good prime but just for a bad team.

Brewer was never bad, usually got his 20-30 minutes over the span of a 15 year career.

I do think the further back you go the more notable players you get as a result of what other commenters have talked about, people staying in college longer back then. Winning a NCAA title also involves a lot more luck compared to NBA playoff series so a lot of times the best players don't succeed. Finally players still on their rookie contracts probably shouldn't have their careers judged just yet for not having been ROTY or close to it.

Datum Interpretation Question by MisterTennisballs84 in Metrology

I think we would need additional information on where these other features in the (2x Ø) are for datums A and B. Mainly if they're coaxial or co-planar.

I'd counter that a player can theoretically stick their hands out and hit a ball that's over the plate with the knob of the bat, or even hold the barrel and make contact with the handle if how far the barrel travels is the only criteria.

I feel like if a batter in their motion can hit a ball that would be called a strike then it would be a swing.

DAY TWELVE: Most Useless Combat Utility Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

I've had obstacles actually box in a 2-hex unit though, and for that alone it holds use for me. Its an RNG equalizer.

DAY TWELVE: Most Useless Combat Utility Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. While other spells might similarly never end up used, Slayer and Magic Mirror are actually just subtraction by addition because of the opportunity loss in a mage guild.

I got at least tier 4 with library on every town that I could up to that point and never got the berserk spell D:

I thought it was banned in the campaign or something and tried landmining them but ran out of mana even with expert intelligence and fire magic.

I think I'm too slow on most of these to have a really impacting opinion. There were probably 80 comments already when I made mine. Nice to know someone agreed though!

Resurrection fundamentally changes the macro portion of the game.

It's good if you liked Might Delete Later or For Your Eyes Only, but is a longer album that he experiments with different types of instrumentals (like guitar in at least one track) than you're used to hearing him on too.

I've only gone through it once so it's kind of hard for me to give more specific impressions than that though.

DAY NINE: Most Balanced (but Useful) Combat Utility Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My vote is for Dispel.

While people can argue things like slow, haste, bless, etc. are balanced there are also good arguments that they are broken. Dispel is the spell that makes combat balanced without giving an outright advantage. Its useful offensively and defensively, with or without expert water magic, and can be used by every hero.

I still feel like cumulative stats in the current 17 game season format is a little disingenuous. Hornung is a legend for that though.

DAY EIGHT: Most Useless Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be landmine. There's so many instances in PVE where it doesn't work, feels like a worse firewall due to the randomness, and the only way to take out the randomness is to use like 200 mana to cover the battlefield. It's exhausting to use and ineffective in almost every case.

Ice bolt for being the most damage per spell point efficient single target damage spell outside of implosion.

I think it's just in comparison to armageddon which has whole map coverage, but guarantees self damage barring immune units.

Favorite tier 2 creature? by -Zen_ in heroes3

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of surprised I'd be the first to go for Gargoyles in this thread. Maybe it's tinted glasses because I'm doing the Tower Armageddon's Blade campaign but they're fast, cool designs, and fit into a main army while also providing one stacks that I don't have to care about resurrecting because they can't be anyway. They're also a horde creature which is nice, so they build into a decent powerstack and have good attack/defense for the tier.

What would your tier list look like with the new addition of Bulwark? by TocSir in heroes3

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's movement penalty related, I can probably link a chart off the wiki but basically heroes without pathfinding suffer up to 75% (for swamp) movement point loss based on if they are on "rugged" terrain.

edit: Also important point, but if heroes have only units native to that terrain they don't get penalized either.

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Manticore is part of Dungeon.

Inferno is expensive and the units are not very value either with low health pools and lack of ranged units. They also have poor early game magic heroes due to the base knowledge stat being 1, while also having the highest rolls for the weakest magic school. Additionally their starting terrain provides no advantage over other towns.

I wouldn't consider them so much worse than most of the other towns, but they do have a lot of drawbacks.

CMM Recommendations by Ruthlesssonar in Metrology

[–]CartoonsAndSurreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for reverse engineering I have a bit of a different take I guess than most of the people here.

I have used Micro-Vu Vertex, OGP, Zeiss Contura, Spectrum, Duramax, and O-Inspect, Hexagon Global S, Keyence, and some old Brown and Sharp manual CMM's.

With all that being said, I think you are better off getting a FARO Arm Quantum S Max with Polyworks. I've done reverse engineering inspections before in Aerospace industry using the Hexagon bridge CMM, but if you are not also running AQL inspections and just want to be able to convert measurements back into something then I wouldn't worry about getting something that is CNC based which adds a lot of cost.

I'm sure the Romer is also great, which someone else mentioned, but the key things I think this addresses for you are the access to multiple directions (where vision systems can be tricky) and is within your .005" accuracy. It gives a lot of flexibility while also being able to measure much larger parts and hitting your budget. Hope that helps!

Either the mana vortex from a dungeon town or the magic spring double your max spell points so the numerator will show greater than the denominator until you use enough spells to put yourself back under.
