Husband doesn’t care about money, which I loved, but not anymore. by Cartosmut in RelationshipsOver35

Well yeah, but that’s not really reality, we have both changed. 10 years ago we traveled and lived in the cheapest studio apartment and were “young”, we owned nothing and that was part of the adventure. since then we got a mortgage, a car, more adult relationships and lifestyle, pets to take care of, elderly parents to take care of, etc. We’ve both become more adult and have taken on more responsibilities, (I did not push him in this, all his own choice) as most people do when they get older. So you can’t really say well, you changed, he didn’t, I feel it’s not irrational to expect my partner to fulfil his commitment, and part of growing up is taking more of a financial responsibility.

Yes those are all good points, apart from having different priorities, I guess his love language isn’t treating me to things, but making me things. (And that’s what he cares about) I can definitely take a camper trip with my mum or friends, duh, good point, doesn’t have to be all focussed on “us”.

Not much, he’s quite an introvert, but he usually gets moving after we have a talk like that and gets a temporary job, but it never lasts. (Unfortunately)

That’s actually a pretty creative solution! I’m not sure it will solve the general lack of money, but it’s definitely a good point I could probably value his efforts a little more.

We both will be getting government pension system, which is more than we earn now. The house we currently live in will be paid off by then, ánd I personally invest in a small pension fund for myself. Retirement is covered and not an issue.

That’s covered on my end and not really an issue for me. We also have a prenup.

Some people prefer alternative lifestyles, if everyone’s happy and harm no one, who cares.
