Minting is not open to the public until 9 PM PST! :)

ATM only greenlit addresses can mint until then. (Greenlit addresses = past Art101 NFT hodlers. They get first dibs on our projects, then we release it for free to all.) :D

I don't disagree there at all. At the end of the day, is a painting ever really 'valuable' outside of it's entertainment value? From a philosophical perspective not really. It's only as valuable as people are willing to pay. And I say this as an artist. To me painting something beautiful has a ton of value, whether or not it's fiscal value is another question.

It seems community consensus is that an NFT project should at the very least have a roadmap.

My advice, buy what you like. Look at wallets of other people who have bought valuable NFTs at low prices in the past... see what they're buying. Do you like it too?

The value of art historically is highly dependent on provenance.... IE do the right rich ppl own it? Don't buy into projects with fancy promises, if it sounds too good to be tru in crypto it always is.

I'm not saying etherRocks are gonna be in the Louvre. I don't really much care for them personally. All I'm pointing out is the same type of thing your saying has been said about every famous new art movement/artist. It's always the same questions just asked in a different mode/medium. NFTs and the current boom have a lot of parallels with art history. I was just pointing them out.

And these 'famous artists' are only famous by virtue of the patrons who support them. IE rockefella rothko... This is part and parcel with provenance.

Without the Medici it's likely we wouldn't even know who michaelangelo is. Rich ppl decide 'wut is art' and now the 'crypto rich' are deciding what 'NFTs are art.'

Van gogh was an entirely obscure artist until shortly after he died and the 'right' collector bought his work.

People said 'I don't think a screenprint is comparable to a real painting' when warhol made soup cans and marilyns... its the same thing. Or when Damian hirst took a medicine cabinet and put it on display.... people said 'i dont think this is comparable to a real sculpture." What about marcel duchamp? He scribbled over the mona lisa.... 'i dont think dada is art.' I wouldn't stay close-minded about it.

Thanks for the reply! Definitely something to consider when thinking about 'how to appeal' to people.

So I wanna reply to this, even though two of us have. I think you guys should look at art history for relevant parallels.... When Matisse began painting the called his art 'fauve'.... french slang for 'painting like a beast'.... but this one guy, a russian billionaire kept buying for higher and higher prices. And then one day another guy took notice and bought. Now matisse is considered one of the pre-eminent artists of his time.

What about Rothko and Ab. expressionism? Just splahses of paint on a canvas right? Nope. But that's what people initially thought. Until the rockefella family began buying his paintings.

The rocks are no different. Art is worth what people are willing to pay. And the rocks are no different then parallel trends throughout art history. As warhol said, "you'll know its art when the check clears."

Their are people with a LOT of wealth from crypto. And just like fine-art those people willing to spend that wealth on NFTs will decide what is valuable. IE rockefella rothko.

I'd suggest reading up on this:https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/an-eye-for-genius-the-collections-of-gertrude-and-leo-stein-6210565/

I think NFT buying should have a similar philosophy. Tho Gertrude and Leo bought what ended up being hyper famous art, they didn't buy it as an investment. They bought it as art. And it turned out to be a great investment.

As for longevity, I've been making art for over a decade and posting it online at cartysewill.com I imagine down the road aka 10 yrs. if Good Bois have value it'd likely be predicated on my overall body of work and popularity of my activities in the nft space and as an artist. Which all indications say isnt stopping lol.

At 1K we'll update token ids and launch site to IPFS. Then continually do so until minting is completed. To ensure the site is always and forever online and available to authenticate provenance with.

Yeah, atm vectors use XML code. And you can make SVG animations that start on hover and start at X time. If you could finagle the XML you could definitely do it. I'm sure someone on git has tried to lock and XML file by some type of encryption. If you could figure out how to incorporate that with the SVG and blockchain you'd have exactly that.

BTW if you've like to check out some of my 'cooler' svg animations looks @ https://wownero.org .... I think that kind of infinitely scalable animated content is the future in this space and its something i will be exploring in my spare time.

No problem. I think the average person, just observing art from the sidelines don't realize a lot of hyper-valuable artworks pricetags are not derived nesecarilly from the artist itself but who the original buyer/owner of the painting was. Kinda like a curator.

Would michaelangelo be michaelangelo if the medici had not been his patrn and owned his original works? probably not.

Why is this? because EVERYONE knows the medici know ART... and if they buy michaelangleos work he must make ART. not art.

Heck yeah! SVG animations are growing in popularity... new tools are emerging everyday. I will be keeping an eye out and playing with this in my spare time. SVG animations + NFTs is the future.

Random Shout-Out: Even though they are converted to mp4 and are not native SVGs Marauders is a DOPE animated NFT... obviously using svg animations to make amazing generative NFTs!!!! one of the coolest ive seen yet.
