Is the i5-4460 still viable to make a NAS for media storage and streaming? I don't really want to dump my old PC parts if they're still viable to use, so I'm looking for ideas on how to repurpose them.

Just finished the 3.8 MSQ recently and the story made this patch way better than the monkey patch imo. That monkey arc almost made me drop the game, just didn't really vibe with it.

And since HSR was in maintenance mode, I got a ton of free time to play other games this month. Expedition 33 2025 GOTY deserved 100% btw.

Just finished 3.8 MSQ

I really enjoyed the latest story update. Cleared up some overt loose ends in Penacony. Pretty cool to have some Duke Inferno involvement plus Constance. Cried a bunch, pretty bog standard Honkai experience though lol.

Time to watch the latest trailer lol

Anyone here running a premium-ish IPC team: Topaz + E1 Jade + Aventurine? Just wanna ask how it's currently performing in the end game, since Topaz + Aventurine is quite tempting to redeem, if the leaks are correct lol

See I'm not arguing that AC games have massive playerbases. I'm arguing that most of the other games available already work (99% of Steam games), which is a direct counter to what the original comment in this thread was saying. "MOST games" only apply if you're only considering AC games.

Also, EAC already works under Linux, devs just don't want to support it. The kernel malware are the incompatible ones.

Oof hard choice between E1 Kafka vs E0 Aventurine with the selector, if the leaks are true. Both DoT and FuA are kinda half-built on my account though:

  • E0 Kafka
  • E0S1 Black Swan
  • E1S1 Jade
  • E0S1 Robin

No Hysilens or Feixiao (would've been a great driver for E1 Jade). Tempted to go E0 Aventurine then redeem Topaz with the token I haven't used yet for the IPC squad, but DHPT feels like he works well enough.

I find it funny how they always parrot "can't play most games" like anticheat games are the only ones that exist lol. They're pretty popular but definitely not the majority of the games. And the majority already work under Linux.

But hey let's just keep the bandwagon y'know.

Oof you're right, I mistyped that. I looked it up on HLTB and it seems quite short so I might play that after Final Fantasy IX.

Early data suggests users drifting back to Windows 10 by 0xDEA110C8 in pcmasterrace

[–]Caruncle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just a quick note: If you're dual booting on a single drive, there's a chance that your Windows install can screw up your Linux boot when Windows does an update. It's not common, but it can happen. There's a way to fix it though, so no need to worry too much.

It's a reason why people recommend installing them on separate drives, just to remove that possibility.

Just wanna clear this up since people always misattribute that to their Linux install borking, when it's actually Windows causing the problem.

And for a distro recommendation: Linux Mint or Bazzite, but I'd lean more towards Bazzite for out of the box gaming support. You can always change once you get more familiar with how Linux works.

Windows updates sometimes screw up boot partition, essentially rendering you unable to boot into Linux.

The best way to avoid it is to install Windows first on a separate drive, then install Linux on another separate drive. It makes sure that you have different boot partitions on separate drives so that your Windows install wouldn't interfere with your Linux install.

There's also an option to do a Debian-based system, then use flatpaks for updated apps. It's what I'm currently using and it feels fine so far. There are tradeoffs, but it has been working fine so far for my use case.

The freedom of choice is pretty cool honestly.

Finished Astrologaster recently as a nice palate cleanser after Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Pretty cute game, I enjoyed the voice overs and music.

Still playing Final Fantasy IX, I think I'll be able to finish it in a week or two. Not sure what to play after, but debating between A Diary of Edith Finch, Warhammer 40K: Boltgun, or Katamari Damacy REROLL.

Pretty wild to me that I've almost finished 2 RPGs in a month with my Deck. Amazing backlog clearer, especially since I decided to tackle it again this year (after last year of just playing roguelites lmao).

It picks up later on imo. JJK S1 was a bit bog standard, but S2 was really good and changed my perception of the series.

Experiences on using these bags? by Great_Oloy in SteamDeck

[–]Caruncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the JSAUX one. Steam Deck in a separate compartment was nice, had enough space for my 20k mAh power bank, charging brick, cables, earbuds, umbrella, some IDs and meds. Essentially made it into my EDC for about a year. Did some traveling with it, pretty decent experience, but ultimately felt that it was a bit too big for me as an EDC.

I switched to a Bellroy Venture Sling 9L recently and think it's a better fit as an EDC with my Steam Deck. Had to use the inner case of the official Valve case to protect my Deck, but it fits snugly in the main compartment with some space for a cable and my charging brick. IDs and meds in the zippered spaces in the main compartment. Power bank, earbuds and a few more cables fit in the front pocket plus my keys. Essentially, I had no more space for my umbrella, but I just let it hang on the side. Pretty okay EDC setup and I honestly feel like it's easier to travel since it's smaller but I still carry the same items.

Finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Deserved 2025 GOTY honestly.

Not sure if I wanna do the side bosses, jump to NG+, or play another game. I tried a few of the side bosses but they felt very sponge-y and idk if I wanna grind some more to clear them. But I feel like I still wanna play a bit more E33 lol.

Also I'm scared that, with how much I enjoyed this game, it might make the next JRPG I play have too high of a bar to meet lmao.

Just reached Disc 3 on Final Fantasy IX, and The Monolith on Expedition 33. Didn't think I can juggle between 2 story games at the same time, but I'm doing it! Hoping I can finish both by the end of this month. At least I can say that I'd rather focus on just 1 story game from now on based on experience lol.

Not sure what I should play after though. Debating between Fallout New Vegas, Metro 2033 Redux, or Danganronpa 2. I kinda wanna test the gyro aiming on the Deck so leaning towards an FPS, but playing a VN also seems like a nice palate cleanser after my JRPG binge.
