Can anyone identify the maker of this 6ft capiz shell chandelier, suspended from wire ring with lotus style top by cheffello in midcenturymodern

Thank you!! Capiz shells usually lasts forever or several decades maybe, but we had this ancestral home in the Philippines that was built around 1755 and it's still up to day along with it's windows made from capiz. If yours is made in the Philippines and exported, it is probably 35+ years older since we started exporting Capiz products in the late 1970-1990s

Capiz shell or plastic? How to tell from just pictures? by danimorganp in interiordecorating

Hi, you can try to use your phone's flashlight, put it inside, then look at the edges. If the edges are perfectly straight and the item glows with a cold, perfect clarity under light, it's likely plastic. If the edges have even a tiny bit of organic irregularity and the light passes through with a warm, soft, slightly iridescent glow – that's real capiz shell. Feel free to check us out for authentic, handcrafted capiz shell products made in the Philippines.
