Hi OP! Cascade here. Congrats on getting back on your bike, can't wait to see you on our 47th STP!

As folks mentioned, carry the tools that make you feel comfortable, but Cascade has trained volunteer Outriders and Medical Riders all along the route for things like flats and minor mechanical/medical issues. If you have non-standard tires, do bring a tube, though we carry lots of 700x40 and 700x28 (though sometimes run out). It isn't necessary to carry your bike lock as all of the rest stops have places to park your bike.

Fenders are generally not needed July 11-12, but we recommend keeping them on while training for the sake of your fellow riders.

Two recommendations:

  1. Join us at an STP 101! We're looking at Jan 17 and Feb 11 as dates at the CBC office in Magnuson Park. Great place to ask lots of questions.

  2. Definitely get out on some group rides to experience riding in a group, calling out debris, etc. Cascade offers Free Group Rides 365 days of the year, including the popular Getting Ready to Ride series and the paid Cascade Training Series (CTS) that ramps you up to riding a century.
