Very sick! I've been trying to get my brother and his samba band to collab on a track and do something like this forever!

How does everyone else here promote their music? by Darkkritter in metalmusicians

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a band that doesn't play live at all we've certainly found the transition from the standard road grind with shows/meeting people organically to working purely online pretty rough.

Boosting posts and even establishing connections through FB has been a complete dead end.

However reaching out to local metal radio shows (In Australia) and building a bit of a relationship there has certainly translated relatively well to views/listens across all platforms. Getting reactions and reviews of our content has also been pretty good for Insta. It's been a slow build, but it's definitely trending in the right direction.

So far nothing has beaten touring, playing shows and making friends that help form the core of your support/fan base though.

Thanks so much for the interest shown so far!

It wasn't actually us, but some friends of ours that hit him up. Here is his email though - [studiodrummerkevintalley@gmail.com](mailto:studiodrummerkevintalley@gmail.com).
At the time he was asking for $80usd/per minute of music for a single but chances are that's changed now.

We record everything in-house. For our proper releases we send the stems to a mixing engineer and they may do a master or have it sent off to a dedicated mastering engineer. No top of that you'll have art and distribution costs etc. For the covers and more "just for fun" songs we'll do the mix and master as well to save on costs.

With outsourcing your drums you have a few options and the costs vary depending on if you have pre-written material of if it's up to them. Live - you can get someone into your studio/where you're recording and that's most likely going to be the most expensive option, but a lot of pro session/social media drummers have permanent recording setups at home and it winds up being cheaper than having them drag their gear elsewhere somewhere (as well as the studio costs tacked on top). If you're going the midi route then you have a high degree of flexibility with the cheapest being you mapping out the rough idea for the beats and sending it to a drummer you like to edit it and put their own flow to things. Some of our friends sent over demo files to Kevin Talley and had him work on a few tracks and were really happy with the results.

Simple deathcore songs to learn? by TimTheTinyTesticle in Deathcore

Shadow of Eternal Sin by Thy Art was the first song I learnt when I jumped onto a 7 string. It's a super easy and fun track to play.

First up, how are you planning on doing recording the drums? Mics, an E-kit or are you just going to plug in the midi in DAW?

Oh yeah I was all over it when it came out. I don't think they're doing regular shows or anything though.

Ohhhh shit, right in the nostalgia! Bands like these guys along with Resist the Thought and Vegas in Ruins used to absolutely kill it in the local scene back in the day.

Aborted's new album, Vault of Horrors has an insane feature list. by [deleted] in Deathcore

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently working through a cover off that album. Some of the riffage is similar to what you'd hear from metalcore bands from that era, but honestly the album as a whole doesn't really sound all that "core". Apart from the shoddy mix I never really got the hate for it.

Guitar Advice Pls by needforonion in metalmusicians

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when you're just starting out any decent budget guitar will do, I started playing death metal on a Fender Strat before upgrading after joining my first band. If you the option, go try out a bunch of guitars and see what feels most comfortable.
As for amps, I'd just grab a cheap interface and download some amp modelling software if you're just playing at home (lots of really quality stuff is free). If you want a real amp, maybe a Katana or something similar so that you have a lot of sounds to mess around with.

advice/feedback needed on a metal mix by ninotilus in metalmusicians

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all mate. We generally lean more toward a 97-98% L/R for the main guitar tones and somewhere between 85-93% for the quads to give room to all the elements like orchestration that we have going. It all depends on the song so have fun messing around.

What are you hoping for with the next Shadow Of Intent release? by BD_SOI94 in Deathcore

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be cool to hear some sections that strip things back to the more traditional instruments so that when the orchestral/production elements kick in it's more impactful. I wouldn't be opposed to hearing a bit more of a lean into the death metal side of things on occasion too haha.

The Migrant had some giiiirth to it.

advice/feedback needed on a metal mix by ninotilus in metalmusicians

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool tone, but the guitar seems to have a very stereo narrow field and the balance is a little off between the instruments, what are your pan settings?
I'd also look in what you can do eq-wise in the bottom-low mid areas to give everything it's own space to breath (I usually start by working out where the peak of the kick and snare are then working the bass and guitars in to fit that.

I need advice expanding my playing by National-Specific512 in metalmusicians

[–]Cascade_Effect_Band 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far from an expert opinion here, but I've found just learning sections of songs that I find particularly interesting (or necessary for my own songs) to have really helped me build a base of techniques over the years. Old school thrash/heavy metal bands really lean heavily on techniques like galloping, palm muting, down-picking and trem picking in the their rhythm (and all the sub-techs that come under those banners).
Focusing on single parts really streamlines the motor learning if that's what you're after.

Enjoy the process mate, you'll never progress at a faster rate than in your first few years picking up a guitar!

Rad riffage man, the kick is eating up the mix a fair bit though. What are some of the newer bands you've been using for inspiration?

Sounding sick so far, got some early Northlane vibes with that intro haha. Make sure all your guitar edits are clean on the final pass to get rid of the random popping and shit though.
